What are you working on this month? (April 2019)

It's April! And with every new month comes a new chance to talk about what you're working on and meet other founders. Here's how you can join the discussion:

  1. First, respond to someone else who's commented, just to say hello or leave them some feedback!
  2. Next, leave your own comment describing what you're working on (or aspiring to work on), and your biggest goal for April.

That's it! Excited to hear from everyone and see what you're working on!

My launch of https://usetag.io on Product Hunt has been awesome. Nearly 100 signups in 2 days which is crazy. Working on a few bugs and converting free plan users :)

    1. 2

Very good product and congrats for the launch on producthunt!
I just have a small question. How will you stand out if possible shopping on Instagram? :)

      1. 1

Thanks, Saïkou! Well, the goal is to push tagged images across e-commerce and blogging sites rather than compete with Instagram itself. What they do is great, but it's limited to their platform. With Tag, you can essentially share the image anywhere or via pop-up on your own website.

    2. 2

Wow, that's crazy, and congrats on the success PH listing! What's the secret to it?

      1. 1

No secret Donald, I actually didn't do much prep with PH. Took the chance and got lucky I think :)

    3. 2

Hey Scott. The product and site looks great! Congrats on the Product Hunt launch, #4 product of the day is impressive. Do you mind if I ask if you used PH Ship before the launch?

      1. 1

Hey Kelvin, thank you! We were sitting #1 for a good while but some of the April fools products ended up appearing. All good though, had an unexpected amount of signups so can't complain :) I haven't used Ship before, maybe for future projects. Have you used it?

  2. 3

I released the final version of https://www.pulno.com , SEO Audit and Website Analysis tool.

Remote Leaf - Launched my product after an year and keep focusing on the product and release it to few publications. Any chance we get published in the indiehackers newsletter @channingallen

Here is our IH launch post -> https://www.indiehackers.com/abhikarthick/post/24e07bd05c

    1. 1

Seems nice, do you have any plans for free version with limited access maybe ?

      1. 1

Hi, Would like to know more why you wanted a limited access product?

        1. 1

Not everyone is actively looking for a job, sometimes it's nice to know the job market especially when you're up-skilling or a student. These customers might not want to pay, but you can have them onboard with a free version and later they can become paying customers.
There are so many job boards with new ones popping up all the time, if you aren't very famous/ dont have good SEO, I think you would want to hold as many customers as you attract.

          1. 1

great, thanks for your inputs. We will definitely do this in sometime and let you know. Your email please?

  4. 3

Working on two (very intense) projects:

    • PDFShift.io - A HTML to PDF Conversion API
    • ImprovMX - A forwarding email service that is growing rapidly! :)
    1. 1

      PDFShift looks really cool.
I could have actually used your service.
I built a service that lets me personalize my ebooks content for every reader: https://findbetterquestions.com/book

      1. 2

Nice, thank you! If you want to give it a try, let me know, happy to help you :)

    2. 1

PDFShift looks awesome - I'm working on a project, and we're looking for something to just that! :)

      1. 1

Awesome! Happy to help if you have any questions or need any help :)

  5. 2

Working on my CSS skills after finishing a VueJs course, found TailwindCSS Framework which just seems as What I was looking for.
Will get the basics of CSS done a then I'll follow with more advance Javascript and NodeJs. After that it Will be Saas making time!

    1. 1

Good luck with your learning! How has it all been going so far?

  6. 2

    For Draftss.com,

    • Working on getting more designers & project manager on board.
    • Updating the portfolio section with new designs created in the past month.
    • Adding more features of the website.
    1. 2

Looks useful, I could def see myself using some of your services once I have revenue.

      1. 2

That's great. I shall look forward to having you on board soon.

        1. 1

Junaid, I hope I have that much revenue soon. :D

  7. 2

Jeanius. Determining whether chicks would use an app to help them find the perfect pair of jeans.

    1. 2

      I really like the design!

Honestly, I'd use such a solution myself as buying a pair of jeans is an utter terror for me. Yet, it seems like a one-moment action - you buy and forget about the thing, so wouldn't an app be too much?
And how do you want to convert it? Right now, it seems to be more like tips and tricks on jeans kind of website.

      Best of luck!

      1. 1

        Thanks for the compliment!

        Great questions!

re Stickiness. Women purchase on average 5 - 7 pairs of jeans per year. Plus, the actual app will have a show and tell component - showcase/recommend how you where your new jeans.

re Tips and tricks. I'm a bit stuck at the moment as I can't work on the actual app given my current day gig. Consequently, I'm focusing on building an audience first. But in addition to articles re hacks and influencers, I'll my algorithm to make general recommendations for different body types.

        1. 1

          Thank you too!

Right, I thought about it right after I made the comment... So with that many purchases, it would actually make sense.

          I see.

All in all, how are you planning to monetize the idea? Paid app or a freemium with a paid option?

    2. 2

      Nice bold design! Good luck.

Purely content and content distribution for TokyoSpark.

Goal is to double traffic over the next three months.

    1. 1

Content is also my main topic for this month. I read your last status update how you increased the traffic/ google impressions. So inspiring.

You also mentioned you use dedicated SEO tools. I would like to invest in one. Which one would you recommend? Which one gives the most boost for the bucks?

      1. 1

I only use Hike — it basically lets me write and watches my pages for simple SEO mistakes.

I wouldn’t really recommend any in particular. I’d pick the content you know if helpful for your readers, do a few searches, and write an article better than the top search results.

    2. 1

Love this! Had a similar idea for Seattle!

What's your game plan to increase traffic?

      1. 1

        A pretty simple plan actually:

        1. Research the best eats and sights
        2. Find competitors articles on them
        3. Write better articles than theirs

Maybe share to social media for some added traction -- I manage a few FB groups with about 10k members of on-topic members.

        1. 1

Look forward to following your journey!

Adding search and categories to the public FAQ pages on frequently.io 🎉

    1. 2

I was searching for Frequently again while building https://usetag.io docs. Not enjoying Gitbook as much, this looks ideal!

      1. 1

Hi Scott! Glad you found it!

I sent you an email this morning. :)

    2. 1

This is interesting, who are your target customers? I imagine developer types would probably put together their own faq right? although I can definitely see using this if it saves me time and looks good too :)

      1. 2

        Hi!

So far our target audience has been people working on side projects as opposed to larger companies. I think this makes sense for a few reasons. Oftentimes these side projects don't need a full ticket, chat, etc. suite and just need a simple FAQ/knowledge base.

There has been some push back from some people I've reached out to stating that they can just create a static FAQ themselves. However, in the long-run Frequently saves time when you need to edit or create new Q/As and is also gives you basic metrics on which questions your users aren't benefiting from.

I understand Frequently isn't for everyone, but for people that are considering knowledge base options like Intercom, we may be a great (and MUCH cheaper) alternative.

  10. 1

https://www.getponga.com/ - easiest way to send emails from any script.

Just launched it today and have some friends already using it.

  11. 1

Applied to Pioneer.app with my productivity app. Will focus on development and beta release.

  12. 1

We (https://hq.network) are continuing to help people improve their digital security. Our first product – an ad/malware/tracker blocking VPN – is currently in early access, and we are planning to let another wave of people in from the waiting list this month.

  13. 1

My team and I are working on the release of Knowledge Base for our SAAS platform https://customerly.io
We plan to release the KB this week or at most next week.

  14. 1

I'm working on getting more users for my Facebook group lead generation software: https://groupleads.net and then launching it on PH and other places.

  15. 1

I'm launching my first side project this month and I'm pretty excited about it.

I've been building Loop (http://slidejoy.co/loop), a video template for makers to create product videos from slides. I'm finally ready to launch it on Product Hunt on April 11th.

You can read more about why I created this product here ...

  16. 1

I just launched the Beta version of the Frontend Mentor platform yesterday. You can find it at https://beta.frontendmentor.io.

So this month I'll be focusing on:

    • Talking to early platform users to find out how the UX could be improved
    • Bug fixing, making general code quality and UI improvements ready for the full launch
    • Taking a step back and planning out the next phase thoroughly

I hope everyone has a great month!

  17. 1

    https://owwly.com/ux-case-studies

We are working on a new idea: UX Case Study. We would like to introduce really cool products and people behind them. Present approach to the design thinking process. Check this out and enjoy the story!

    1. 1

This is cool, love seeing behind the scenes from a UX perspective. Would be neat to see wireframes / in-process shots too.

  18. 1

As always, I’m working on Find Better Questions on Quora. Specifically I’ll publish a Quora Guide ebook for marketing purposes (I can suggest it to everyone interested in Quora marketing btw ;) ), as well as improving the product’s stability and onboarding experience.

  19. 1

Working on makerleads.com which allows you to get leads of product hunt makers. We are now working on a zapier application.

    1. 1

I signed up for the free sample. Seems like a great idea.

  20. 1

I'm working on the new plans and pricing of Bybrand The current blueprint we have plans does not work. You know the term "unlimited" and shit. 💩

  21. 1

Rewriting https://vidleads.co to use WebRTC instead of straight video uploads. Will be several orders of magnitude easier and quicker to use.

  22. 1

Slowly launching https://formist.io Simple forms platform for all.

  23. 1

Does anyone remember Freeter.io - it was a cool product, but unfortunately no longer supported.
I'm starting to work on a free, open-source version :) Let me know if anyone would be interested in something, I'm looking for feedback!

    1. 1

Neat! I have written some AppleScript and Fish functions that automatically open certain apps / run different dev environments for my various "workflows", this seems like it would be a faster way.

  24. 1

I'm working on the first premium features, accepting payments, and addressing feedback for https://www.brooklet.app : A customizable personal tracking app.

The premium feature I'm building this month is letting users set goals for the stuff they're tracking. They will then get reminders to hit their goals and when exceeding their limits.

Also, I have a few users who love the app and are using it every day and others that use it every week or so. Some have submitted suggestions and feedback that I want to address so that I can show them how much I care about them.

  25. 1

I'm working on SaaS visual editor. You can see screenshots in my Twitter https://twitter.com/CaravelKit

Another thing I'm doing is writing the book of SaaS ideas. It will have all ideas that I'm sending to my subscribers + 6 more.

  26. 1

I'm determined to finally implement at least a simplest prototype of an idea i'm living few years with. An app to configure trip routes (e.g. to some rare locations) in a simple (but good looking) way so other people can buy and follow it. Hope to not stop after few days of work as it usually happens!

  27. 1

I'm making admin interface for writing docs and blog posts for https://www.gridquick.net/?rref=ihdoc

  28. 1

Recently launched the alpha of syncprogress.com so this month is all about early sales & marketing efforts although I'm also working on new premium features too!

  29. 1

Launching my side project soldit.co :)

    1. 1

      Nice @bluebeel!

      Who is your target audience?

Also, when it comes to your landing page design - think about changing the CTAs' color so it stands out. Also, not to overuse the same screenshot over and over, you can include some illustrations (you'll find some @ https://undraw.co/illustrations).

Nevertheless, good luck with the launch!

  30. 1

Start writing a blog for howuku to share about our journey, and a proper channel to make announcements. By the way, we've added heatmap tracking feature to howuku.com! 🎉

  31. 1

i am trying to build "yet another about.me" at https://conn2.me using google spreadsheet. i have built it for myself then publish it to public.

  32. 1

Trying to get all my ducks in a row to launch https://www.angstrom.life/ before the end of the month.

    1. 1

Thats pretty slick. Do you have long term plans to make it collaborative?

      1. 1

Thanks Jim! No plans to make it collaborative. I'd prefer to stay in the niche and not directly compete with the big boys in the team space.

        1. 1

It will help you focus your product.

  33. 1

This month is full of content creation to rank my site www.zweimalfreude.at better in Google. In addition, I started a pilot with a group of potential customers. I'd like to expand that to get more feedback from them and to improve the site's user experience in terms of visual images.

    1. 1

what kind of content do you create for such purposes? something like blog posts?

      1. 1

Posts about sustainability and about local businesses mainly. Yes, blog posts.

  34. 1

Getting prepared for the launch of my private Slack community for Japanophiles, Nihon Social. Our biggest goal for April is to get people using the product so that we can get feedback.

    1. 1

How do you plan to market the slack channel? How do you make people aware it exists?

      1. 1

The first stage is just leveraging my own local network of Japanophiles, getting them engaged within the community and adding content and giving feedback and validating it.

Once that's done we'll move on to the second stage which is outreach to local Japanophile groups and establishing relationships with Anime and Gaming based conventions which typically has a large amount of Japanophiles in attendance.

From there the third stage would be a wider scale launch that involves paid marketing across a variety of social media and relationships with micro-influencers that exist within the Japanophile niche.

We'll naturally be doing some social media and content based marketing early on, but in the third stage once we've got stronger validation we'll definitely be scaling that up more and getting the community more out there.

  35. 1

Here is what I am planning to do this month:

🎨 Recruiting new designers: We're now hiring in three new hubs: South Africa, Ukraine, and Romania with team leaders in all three locations.
🖼 Promoting our illustration gallery (https://gallery.manypixels.co) and creating more illustrations (we've doubled the new illustrations we produce to 10 per week)
👨🏻‍💻 Product / website (we're releasing this month our new platform + ratings)
📚 Processes / service improvement (we're completely redesigning our processes this month)

    1. 1

Just wondering, where do you hire in Ukraine (I'm from Ukraine)?
