What are you working on this new week?

Hi IH,
what are you working on this week?

on June 29, 2020
  1. 4

I made a Superbook of 70,000 unique baby girl names yesterday (we are going to be parents soon!) The book includes the names of Eloise & Piper, the amazing daughters of @rosiesherry as well. 😇

Afterhours: I plan to polish the book and promote it this week starting now. ❤️

Wow! Good job and wishing you well

Launched the alpha of https://ting.is to internal testers. Scarier than I remember it being last time. 😅 So this week is all about reaching out for feedback and tracking use.

I'm preparing the 1.1.0 release of Lazar Focus, the little app and website distraction blocker for Windows.

The biggest new feature is the result of a lucky coincidence: Fully automatic, highly detailed and 100% private activity tracking on your Windows PC for personal analytics, billing, or any form of timesheets.

See https://twitter.com/LazarFocused/status/1277582689877536769 for a sneak peek.

On Portabella I just finished a migration from Netlify to AWS. All in all took me most of the day, but that was the big thing I wanted to get sorted this week. Wrote about my reasons here.

Going to clean up the rough edges this week and continue working through my massive list of todos!

  12. 1

I just released my first SaaS in alpha and shared it with the first tester.
It's a tool that transcribe speeches and provides insights (topics extraction, sentiment analysis, etc. ) and translations.

Now, I'm taking a few days off to regain some brain power.

  13. 1

Wrapping up Stripe integration on divjoy.com (React web app starter kit)

    1. 2

      @Gabe wishing you luck!

  14. 1

I am working on my first article on the topic of privacy! It's about the privacy-oriented tools I use, and their benefits. Soooo looking forward to it 😊

    How about you?

    1. 2

@clo That is great bro! Am still brainstorming on something that can make me quick $$ heheh

    2. 1

Cool! Do you mind checking out Portabella? It's a privacy preserving version of Trello I've been working on.

On the wider topic of privacy, I wrote a little about that on my blog and plan to do more articles soon.

From a quick look, the homepage seems good to me. The value proposition is very clear from the get-go. I like the idea of highlighting huge data leaks that took place, this really underlines your value.

One small thing I spotted, on the business pricing card, in your sentence 'Import from Trello, Jira, Asana and more' Trello is not bold, compared to the other competitors. Is this on purpose?

  15. 1

I officially announced my competitor to Heroku, on Twitter. I am laying out the groundwork to get the Private Beta phase ready by August 17th.

    1. 2

Cool! Just signed up for the newsletter. Looking forward to what you've got in store.

    2. 1

Wow, @joshmanders this is massive bro! We will support you and wishing you all the best

      1. 2

Thanks! Massive undertaking but I'm hyped for it.

Finish migrating from websockets to http polling (to simplify things and move faster, I initially added websockets as a curiosity driven approach to see how real time updates with websockets work, but they complicated things quite a bit and some flows that handle quite some data became very hard to manage and handle. So I roll back to simple I don't need real time updates anyway.

Other than that, I on the non-dev side I continue with outreaching potential clients for feedback. Just started this week, when I realized that I postponed this part for too long.

    1. 1

Did you opt for a hosted websocket platform or run everything yourself? I've got a lot of experience running websocket servers professionally and for my side project Portabella I decided to go hosted with Ably. So much less headache than running my own.

      1. 1

I did it on my own. I am using Django for the backend, and I integrated django-channels for it, and switched from wsgi to asgi. But as I added more and more, it was getting harder and harder to manage all the information flowing through the app. It was more about the managing of messages order and interaction with the data more than anything else. It became very chaotic and hard to manage.

    2. 1

Share the URL of the project bro @vladcalin
