What are you working on this weekend?

Fellow weekend workers, share what you're working on and what you hope to get done!

I'm submitting Trennd to every appropriate startup/app submission site I can find! 😁

Here is a great list for this if anybody else might find it useful.

    1. 3

I wanted to comment and say good job, I already bookmarked the site for future use. As for sending the link to start ups.. I don't think it's overrated. There's no Golden rule for gaining users. The worst one will be if you did nothing. Congrats

      1. 1

Thanks - glad you like it! Yeah I'm not entirely sure how much traction I'll get from this, but definitely worth finding out :)

    2. 2

Thanks for the list. Super useful!

    3. 2

I just checked out Trennd and I have a feeling that the marketing channels in that GitHub repo will be helpful. Product/Tech communities love these kind of insightful products.

      1. 1

Yeah I thought it should be right up their street! My only concern is there is a lot of noise on these sites... but we shall see how it goes

        1. 1

Please update us as to how it goes. We will be following similar strategies and see how things go. But our product is Travel focused and I am not sure that would get as much leverage in tech communities, although a ton of tech people are travelers, so fingers crossed.

          1. 1

            Will do Sumit!!

    4. 2

Let me know how that goes traffic wise.

My current opinion is that this stuff is overrated. And you'd be better off making videos / blog about all the great use cases of Trennd

      1. 1

Will do Harry! Not sure how effective this is going to be either... but it's pretty low effort and thought it worth testing.

In terms of blogging use cases of Trennd, you mean for example articles like "How to find your next big eCommerce product" or "Where to look for the next huge SaaS market opportunity"?

        1. 1

          yep - exactly

  2. 6

Yesterday changed the UI of Versoly from dark mode to light mode. Dark mode is hard to do well.

Today's plan is building a new way of creating a page, we are trying to get the customer to the aha moment as quickly as possible.

Users love the blocks but rarely get to them before leaving the site, so if we can get them using blocks quickly should result in better experience for them.

  3. 5

I'm editing next week's episode of the IH podcast, prepping some questions for Sahil Lavingia's episode I'll be recording soon, fixing some IH bugs, and indulging in my new hobby to learn to play chess well!

    1. 1

if you fancy a game - username harrydry on https://www.chess.com/

anytime, anyplace, anywhere, seven days a week and twice on Sunday.

  4. 4

Worked on Fathom Analytics V2 yesterday and back to some client work today. Recently changed my schedule to allow more time on Fathom :)

    1. 1

Just installed Fathom last week on my server, it's great! Can't wait you add new features!

  5. 3

I'm solo parenting, it's Sunday afternoon and I'm wiped out. One of my teen sons did babysit my youngest ones yesterday and this morning, it was completely voluntary too, so feel like I've won there :D

Personally, I published a blog post on bootstrapping my business with 5 kids 'n' what not.

I also think it's really dangerous to listen to the latest IH podcast, I listened to it as I was driving my kids from place to place. I've come away wanting to take action on so many things.

  6. 3

    For Eondesk (https://eondesk.com)

    • Pushing mutli language features to my site,
    • optimizing internal searches,
    • some category and article features
    • lastly SEO.

Working on a major redesign and feature shift on www.sendthatinvoice.com. I have months of work ahead of me, but I’m thrilled with the progress!

    1. 2

Looks great. I could use it, but to lure me in, I'd want to see screenshots or a video in addition to text saying it's easy.
Also whether it's international or USA-centric would be good to know from the front page.

      1. 2

Awesome, thanks for the great feedback!
I agree with the screenshots/videos, also how-to’s and FAQs.
It is, in fact, USA-centric... to start. But I hope to make it more international-friendly in time.

        1. 1

Here's a thing that would really help me. Let me make an invoice and then show me the equivalent curl call in the UI.

That way I could start out manually and then automate very simply by cutting and pasting.

Mostly yes. User feedback and observations of general user confusion. Plus additional features that I feel will enhance the product.

I’m working on the worker/mailer for featurefocused.io, a tool based on Rahul Vohra’s “The Product Market Fit Engine” talk that gives feedback on what features to build next and what marketing copy to use. MVP should be out in another week or so.

  9. 2

Besides some small improvements and bug fixes for the Friday Release of https://fullstackjob.com/newsletter/subscribe I implemented, finally, the Password Reset Flow for my Job Board.
You can read a bit about the "why" in my post from today:

  10. 2

I'm writing about Mail Time You Tube Marketing for my marketing site.

When executed well, it's one of the coolest ways of marketing a physical product. For an example of it in action check out this video from Casey Neistat's channel

  11. 2

I'm embedding transcripts of my podcast onto my site so the moderately interested can skim instead of listening.

Also I'm moving my largest and oldest blog off of WebFaction and onto Digital Ocean. I've decided to put all the WP blogs on their own droplet, and the vast majority of my other projects will share one.

The entire team at Givhr (including myself) will be working towards launching our Slack integration. We are about 2 weeks away from launching a closed Beta. We are extremely excited! If you have any tips, feel free to send them my way!

  14. 1

    Just launched Labelook:
    https://www.labelooker.com
An embeddable shopping cart to sell and dropship products on your website or blog

  15. 1

Tried and failed to build a WP blog for my web app. Attempt 2 coming soon.

  16. 1

Working on "Adding bot functionality to https://hashforms.com "

  17. 1

Rewriting my checkout flow for https://introcave.com to try to eliminate a screen and bury the coupon field in a settings page.

Thinking about writing a little DSL for the email sequences I want to set up. Don't want to shell out $300-$400 on marketing automation subscriptions when my logic is so simple.

  18. 1

My sanity. Ha! Just kidding . . . well, sort of. I'm trying to come up with marketing strategies for Gnotes.io. My Orginal plan was (because I work at a college) do in hand usability testing. Just go up to random people and see if they will use my product. I also planned on going to every youtube video in which people can learn from, take notes with my product, and then link them in the bottom with a "Notes provided by Gnotes" tag. Or something similar.

  19. 1

Our new Shopify app was recently released. We currently have 20 stores using our app. We are getting great user feedback and working on new features and bug fixes.

    For MetricsBox (http://metricsbox.io)

    • Pushing multi-currency features
    • Looking into a web designer to make a site
    • Sending first few cold email campaigns this week

    👋🏾Happy Sunday folks!
Well, I'm working on flushing out a service offering that helps founders and provides me customer insight into the market. A few leads are lined up to test my idea out this week.

👍🏾 Good luck my fellow weekend warriors. You got this! 👊🏾

  21. 1

I'm working on tutorials for my CaravelStudio www.caravelstudio.io.
People have to know what to do with this great product haha!

  22. 1

I started writing a document about my database, something like a "white paper". I was asked to do so. Also since most users of databases that looks like the one I am building are academics, it makes sense.

  23. 1

I'm writing up a final exam for my first online course. Then we can officially launch Mobile First Academy. Woot woot 🎉 🥂 ! Thanks @Harlem for bringing up this topic.

    1. 1

Congrats on being close to launch! I am sure it has been a journey!

  24. 1

Working on the backend for my app (https://flowist.io)

    • Finished Dark/Light theme for the frontend
    • Work on the adding projects/workspaces to the backend
    • Prepare our home for a new puppy!
    • And maybe go out and enjoy the sun :)
  25. 1

I'm away this weekend but I have to admit that my mind is not, so I'm sneaking up minutes here and there to work on the landing page, finally create a IH profile page for my project, send a couple of emails and make an action plan for the coming week.

  26. 1

Cleaning up before I take a 11-day long break while visiting family in PHL

  27. 1

Just launched my first indie product: https://wheretoketo.com this morning. Still can't believe how nice it feels to see good feedback and users adding and checking restaurants using something that I made.

  28. 1

Mostly working on paid add-ons for https://www.ashop.co , updating landing page, wiring stripe.

  29. 1

I am working on my onboarding tool - onboard-cw.firebaseapp.com - the name is still in question.

I hope to finish up the product page, which gives details and use cases and start on adding features to the MVP

  30. 1

I'm building a web app and Vs code extension to track your time spent on coding with game experience. I finish building the API, UI and Vs code extension

  31. 1

Working on a game for indiehackers and others alike that, I hope, will help us launch faster and abandon fewer perfectly valid ideas: https://growthgame.app. trying to launch in my artificial constraint of 10 evenings which leads me to code faster than I usually like.

  32. 1

Working on SEO for https://watermark.ink and implementing pdf converter for https://markdown.site

I don't work regularly on SEO, I can say roughly four hours per month. I am thinking to increase that time or hire someone cheap to write a blog.

  33. 1

My new app, that allows teachers and students meeting each other.
Teachers will be able to create presential classes or even online, and register their address or link to class.

I'm in the final couple of weeks of my course at LBS, so am reviewing my initial financial models in Excel so I can update my Growth Forecast slide. The figures won't be accurate, but the model itself will be a starting point to move forwards over the coming months and years.

I can highly recommend the course itself to anyone who wants to learn how to launch a business; it's been invaluable to have done the work, and we get access to the reference material and alumni forever:

I'm here to answer any questions if there are any!

  35. 1

Finishing the B2B version of my web app, which started in 2013 as Pomodoro timer and evolved into Time and expense tracker with task manager (https://teams.tasklog.app).

  36. 1

Trying out my platform to my target audience (https://www.hailtum.com). I did get a few sales but it seems to be a hassle...

  37. 1

Adding new themes to https://strmaker.com a service to generate graphics (overlays, banners) for video games streamers.

  38. 1

I'm working on learning local development using AWS step functions (using sam_cli). I currently work for a company that implements serverless and allows me to bring value to them while understanding concepts for my projects!

  39. 1

I am implementing a Geo search service. Using GeoNames dumps and putting them into a Sonic search server hosted on DigitalOcean. Node.js stuff...

This is to enable us to add the place information to any Idea in our new launched Trips (https://travlyng.com/trips/). Currently our Places DB is also GeoNames based but on PostgreSQL. The dump from GeoNames is large (1.5 GB CSV) and it overshadows our actual DB. Thus I am moving this out as a service.

  40. 1

I'm working on creating a weekly email to summarize for my users the changes that've happened in their analytics! Hoping this regular touchpoint will help draw people into the tool and see their progress.

  41. 1

I'm continuing with yesterday sprint to replace Firebase with GraphQL and Passport.

Just announced TribePulse (https://www.tribepulse.com/) to the world so will definitely be working on spreading the word as well as ironing out any remaining kinks. It's actually Sunday night here in Sydney, so not much time left of this weekend!
