What are you working on this weekend?

Share your weekend project and goals! Or, if you're taking some time off, feel free to share that, too. 🤗

Taking a BREAK! I'm not using rails (my comfort zone) for my current project and decided to update my toolbox with React, GraphQL & Node. What a fun ride so far. Moving over from an opinionated framework to the JS ecosystem feels like the wild west! Bad for business for sure, since it's slowing me down, but the technologist in me couldn't hold off anymore.

  2. 4

FindCollabs! Goal is to fix user dropoff and increase traction.

  3. 3

Thanks for asking! I got some great feedback last week so this weekend I'm working on:

    1. Making our polls fully translatable into several different languages
    2. Adding a customizable CSS form so you can adjust your font size and button treatments to match your brand exactly.

Zigpoll (https://www.zigpoll.com) is really starting to come along thanks to feedback from early adopters so if anyone has any comments or suggestions please let me know! jason[at]zigpoll.com.

Your polls look far better than I'd expected. Unless you have good reason for otherwise, do definitely simplify your pricing presentation, seems overwhelming on first glance. Great job again!

      1. 1

Thanks I appreciate it, and thank you for your feedback!

I agree with you about the pricing - I sort of rushed it when I was working on v1 of the product. I think I'm going to switch to charging based on the # of responses instead of the # of page requests. If you have any thoughts on this let me know.

Also if anyone wants a free month of the standard plan to try things out you can get it by entering the promo code: svnu065Cl on the account setting page.

I'm working on trying to keep my editor closed to put my marketing/bizdev hat on with my project. I tweaked my homepage yesterday (feel free to comment - link below) and today started pushing it out through some of my social media to see where it goes.

  5. 2

I am trying to wrap my head around landing pages. I'm a developer and it's much more an exercise in marketing and design. Maybe I should stop reading, bite the bullet and make something even if it's not the best.

  6. 2

Finally getting around to building something I have wanted to for years... Crowdsourced software estimation!

  7. 2

I’m getting the terms of service and privacy policy pages done. It feels in some ways like a waste of time because I’m not working on the product. But it’s crucial to do before public launch.

  8. 2

    Making plans for a podcast!

It will follow the format of my Making a Side Project (https://medium.com/makesideproject/making-a-side-project-808fc040d27a) series of Medium posts that described how I built a side project for a hackathon.

Each season will be a different application, and may include appearances from people that I try and get involved in building the projects.

I finished working on my landing page for ServerMonitor. :)
    https://monitor.inspiredprogrammer.com/

    1. 2

Nice start. I started a landing page of my own this weekend.

    2. 1

@ChristianLutz We are doing web performance monitoring here tezify.com/lighthouse
Interested to hear more about how you do server monitoring!

    3. 1

Sent you an email about this, looks good.

  10. 1

Right now i'm studing GraphQL, Node and Express.

  11. 1

We have built tezify.com/lighthouse a few months back. Now we are looking to organically grow our customer base. Any ideas or suggestions welcome :)

Wood-carved globes: calculating and coding the 3D geometry to fix the Arctic and Antarctic pieces to the rest of the globe.

Wood-carved maps: writing code to process Ordnance Survey elevation data into a 3D model for carving my first UK mountain map.

Web site: responding to comments on my guide to the best globes in the world from other globemakers.

Day (& night) job: doing an ambulance call or two.

Now: it’s Sunday night, waiting for a high-resolution 3D model to be generated and relaxing with a book and IH!

I am workingn on completing my first full django project. A web app for my company to gamify bug tracking. Its a big project for me and would really like to stay on target and complete it. Honest to say i start too many projects and dont finish a lot . I get "shiny project syndrome" quite a bit. So i'm working diligently to finish this. IT will be my first project finsihed from start to finish without external motivation

  14. 1

Taking on Rails after a month into learning to code by building a blog application with comment functionality (CRUD). Following a tutorial by Traversy Media, Ruby On Rails In 60 Minutes. Quick, clear and detailed tutorial.

  15. 1

I'm finally building out my personal landing page 😂. Been dev'ing for years and never actually created a site to showcase myself. Using it as aopportunityy to play around with GCP (what I wanted to build my next project on) as well as using Adobe Illustrator for the Design process. Should be finished later today and then can relax before diving into the next project 👍🏽

  16. 1

I just got to London and taking some time off. Prepping for the week ahead where I'll be doing some app development and working on our API spec doc.

  20. 1

    https://github.com/Phantas0s/devdash

  22. 1

Just shipped an update to https://lancerlist.co that allows freelancers to choose multiple categories, such as UX Designer and Illustrator.

  23. 1

Working on adding more designs to the draftss.com portfolio.

  26. 1

I posted the first milestone for my vim course vimtraining.com last week. Now working on adding an intro video to the course based on the feedback that I've received so far about the curriculum. Hope to release the video in 2 weeks !

  27. 1

Integrating Stripe Checkout as a payment option for SocialTracker, as my main goal for this month is to make the tool profitable. (it's 100% free atm)

    1. 1

I did that recently, Stripe is so awesome that it didn’t take too long... but I still have to build out my product pages before I can put it fully live!

How did it go for you?

      1. 1

Same here! The integration went super smooth, was able to make it work with my front and backend in less than a day. I hope Stripe continues to integrate more payment methods in Checkout, so I don't have to 😅

Now I'm working on the pricing page which is undoubtedly going to take me longer to finish.

How are your product pages getting along?

        1. 1

I'm doing my best not to work on my product pages right now!

I suffer from the developers' curse of always wanting to code, even when that's not the top priority, and right now I'm prioritizing fulfilment over seeking new orders.

SocialTracker looks great, by the way, good luck with making it profitable!

  28. 1

I'm working on getting an overview on how the API should look like for https://jobflow.io - I already built it, but some changes in how the platform is going to work makes me wanna make some new changes.

Also, in the late hours I'm working on a simple markup writer.

  29. 1

Working on advancing android & iOS knowledge

    • loading image feed into instagram like app
      • files already loading
    • use authentication token to tag images as they are being uploaded to the server.
    • sketch out technical details of connecting users and having image feed reflect it.
  30. 1

Working on https://picblocks.com Simple photography portfolio builder(like Squarespace). Originally created it for my brother but some other people were interested in it also. Working on allowing users to use their own custom domain.

  31. 1

SideProjects.net! Recently teamed up with a podcast and we're going to start rolling out some new episodes soon ;)

  32. 1

Hooking up frontend to the backend APIs for https://www.metricsjar.com

    1. 1

You developed them both separately? Hope the meeting in the middle goes well!

      1. 1

I’ve already made a few changes to the backend api since ur comment 😂

  33. 1

I'm working on making more reviews on my website and trying out new programs :D

  34. 1

I'm working on my webapp - Stroply, a trade journaling app.

Currently working on redesigning the whole thing and making sure it's slick and easy to use... Something I'm not great at...

  35. 1

I've been working on a tools section for project hatch.

Finding it tricky to create a good layout.

    https://www.projecthatch.co/tools

  36. 1

I had planned to do a bunch of coding/hosting/server config/etc, but after listening to the Steli Efti and Reilly Chase episodes back to back, I was ready to do some of the sales and marketing I've neglected so badly.

So, this weekend: I'm scanning twitter for accounts I might be able to sell to; and getting better acquainted with a potential collaborator I've been talking to.

    1. 2

So easy to prioritize product development, so difficult to prioritize sales & marketing! Good to hear you’ve succeeded in spending some time on the latter!

  37. 1

A company/community for the Woman Make Challenge, Remote Life.

"Normalizing" remote work and help the world see beyond the digital nomad experience. But how working remotely can be a lifestyle and is the future of work.

Still working on the mission and tagline 😂.

This weekend working on the website and strategy.
