What are your thoughts about build in public + waitlists?

I think two of the most popular tips we have for Indie Developers are: “build a MVP” and “do not wait to start talking about your product”.

Do you think is worthy to build in public, share your product progress even if users can’t use yet? e.g create an audience on Twitter and have a landing page to build a waitlist/newsletter
