What are your thoughts on building a community around your product?

Yesterday I launched a community around my project where I'm inviting people to come together & help build the product. Find the link to the community in comments below.
What are your thoughts on this?
I think it's a great idea, but you'll want a plan in place before just inviting people to a Slack + Discord and expecting them to stick around.
I'd probably recommend just 1-2 channels to get started so that members aren't overwhelmed and get value out of the group right away
Interesting point! I’ve also started a discord server for chessroulette, and I went the way of hiring a profesional server creator on fiver. She did a great job, but I do feel that the 20 different channels we have now are very overwhelming and not used!
Do you think we should remove them for a while?
Yes always start out with as few channels as possible and only create new ones if really necessary. Else you will have 20 dead channels with no one participating.

I think having a community around your product is an amazing idea....The only problem is that the activity tends to decrease after a while
Can be nice, but you need to get the initial velocity going for the group. I find that having structure, whether checkins or regular events, really help people stay engaged. If you consistently give value, then you’ll probably grow a nice community that supports you and vice versa. Nobody likes to join a dead community where there’s 3 users or the last post was 3 months ago.
