Hello fellow IndieHackers,
We are contemplating the idea of a live-chat widget (think Intercom, Crisp ...)
Most solutions allow the user to send a message immediately from within the website, but if there is no one answer, the user is lost.
I have found other apps that offer chat widgets that redirect to Messenger, Email, WhatsApp. The user needs to get off the site but the exchange can be asynchronous and the user is not lost.
What are your thoughts on the subject? How is your experience with live chat widgets? Positive/negative impact?
Cheers and happy holidays! ๐
EDIT: I ended up going for a rather simple widget: Click2Contact. There is an LTD going on in AppSumo. It has a slick design, easy to set up and falls into the second category (redirects to Messenger/ WhatsApp/Email).
Iโm not a fan. Never use them if I can avoid it. But donโt let my comment dissuade you in the slightest. Theyโre very popular so I assume others like them and use them. :)
Enticing reasoning :p But it can be dangerous. In French, we say: "Mouton de Panurge"
I've put chat widgets on the site for limited times and the incoming messages can be interesting and useful.
What do you mean when you say "limited times"? Working hours of the day ? Working days ?
I think I had them there for a few weeks or months at a time. I removed it last time, because Google was complaining about page speed.
The more they are automated, the less people like to use them.
Is this your intuition or are you saying this from experience ?
I see the demand - most of the online businesses need such services to build contact with customers, and the most popular live chat software tends to connect it with CRM to make it a complete solution.
Yeah definitely. I see it as an easy way to get in touch. Saves the hassle of looking for the Contact Us section.
I hate them, and I worked at Drift. (Not on the chat bot side)
Vegan working at a Kebab :D
๐ to an extent. I was there because of an acquisition
I work at https://www.heyday.ai/ and it's precisely what we sell.
I think chatbots are cool yea
Love the landing. The product looks more geared towards Enterprise customers.
