What are your top LinkedIn hacks?

I know that a lot of people (even A LOT) work with LinkedIn. Some use it as an outbound lead generation channel, some as a place for content distribution and brand awareness.

No matter what's your side, what is your top 1 LinkedIn hack?

Full disclosure: I sell in this space — Avery Lin (avrlin). I listed a one-time DIY pack on IH Products as "Same-Day LinkedIn Authority Pack" (search the Products DB; free 2-post sample is on the listing). Sold via an AI assistant storefront — also disclosed.

My boring LinkedIn "hack" that still works: stop optimizing for carousel volume first. Rewrite the offer-line on the profile (headline + About that name a specific buyer problem), then ship 5–7 short lived posts from the last month of real work — offline Markdown blanks you edit tonight beat another AI that sounds like everyone else's feed.

Curious which hacks actually moved inbound for you — profile specificity, posting cadence, or comment-first networking?

My top hack is when I need to find someone to talk to at XYZ company and I don't know anyone there - I look for someone who used to work there and pitch them. It's easier and they know you're not going to sell them anything. If they think it's good they will refer you to who they know so you go in with a warm lead.

I've found an awesome FREE app that analyzes your LinkedIn profile in just 2 mins - here is a quick video of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoOvXK-IwKs

At the moment asking open questions works quite well for us, we do the same on Twitter and get similar responses.

We do this via our company page, here is an example

    Here is the Twitter version

Sometimes we'll create forum posts after we've created these things and interlink them. For example!!

Hey! Thanks for sharing the examples. Just wondering, how did you grow such an impressive following on LinkedIn?

My initial reaction to this was 'I don't know'.

But I just had a look at stats/graphs, I can only go back the past 12 months in LinkedIn, but there's a definite spike from January/February 2019 onwards. This is when we started posting more to our page on more regular basis. We posted some self promotional sutff, but my feeling is the open ended questions (like the above) really gave it a boost.

This one is our best performing one on LinkedIn we did the same thing on Twitter and it had twice as many comments. My gut instinct is that LinkedIn currently wants people using it's platform for sharing stuff, much like Twitter. Mostly we are reposting our Twitter stuff to LInkedIn...and that seems to work?!

I'm in the process of setting up a blog, happy to share more details with graphs/stats included. It's hard to add that here on IH.

I have a lot of favorites, but the one I really love is - add PDFs to your posts, so you can boost your post views by 3-4X 🔥

Why does adding PDFs to post help? Do share!
