I'm trying to learn more about marketing, and I'm looking for book suggestions.
What books have changed how you think about marketing?
Some additional thoughts, since I know that's a broad prompt:
- I'm interested in both broad surveys of different types of marketing, and books that focus on just one type of marketing.
- I prefer books (since I can read them without a screen) but also welcome blog post, article, and other recommendations.
My two favorite marketing-related reads so far have been Positioning (highly recommended if you haven't read it!) and Crossing the Chasm.

This is Marketing by Seth Godin has been the most impactful book for me. Whether you're just getting started or far along with your product, this book will help you zoom out and reframe marketing in a more human way. You'll put the tactics, platforms, and strategies aside for a moment and get back to understanding the real people you're serving, what they value, and how to connect with them on a human level. Depending on your knowledge level, one of the best ones I read is Side Hustle, from idea to income in 27 days by Chris Guillebeau.
It's not advanced in any way but it gets to the point about: validation, target customers, pricing, how to structure an offer and how to optimize your business.
I've seen so many entrepreneurs struggle because they haven't mastered the basics that are taught in that book
It's a short read, packed with case studies but definitely worth it.

Have you guys also checked out the book called Traction? hearing that its really good!
+1 to Traction. Very concrete approach to testing different channels to see what works. Experimentation is everything ;)

No I haven't. My next business book reading is probably going to be the mom test. I keep hearing good things about it.
