What can you *ship* in one day?

I am just curious, recently I saw this post where someone created and launched a typeface to Google Fonts in one day: https://medium.freecodecamp.org/designing-a-font-from-scratch-and-submitting-it-to-google-fonts-in-24-hours-152a30c57095

Now I ask: what else can we build and ship in one day?
I actually would like to start a movement like that, "one day ships", if anyone is interested, DM me.

I've been doing this at hackathons for some time.

If you work the full 24h, it's like 3 works days :)

"If you work the full 24h…" You need to publish a book about how to not need sleep, Mubs 😝

I've pulled way to many all nighters in my time working at startups. Soda and coffee fueled many nights of coding :)

If you're just doing it for one day, it's not bad. It's still important to take breaks from coding, just don't sleep for 8h in the middle of a hackathon!

I also love this idea, Jean, sounds like a really good one. come back with updates please

    Love the idea Jean!

Howdy All - Andy from Tettra.co here 👋🏻

We shipped the very first version of our landing page in a day. IIRC it was just a page that said "we're starting something new" with a sign up form that our friends could subscribe to.

This idea reminds me of Jennifer Dewalt's 180 days of coding. Every day, she shipped a new coding experiment for 180 days: https://jenniferdewalt.com

I like the idea of starting a movement of consistently shipping every day. Getting something out in a day takes practice. Shipping is a skill. If you do it every day, you'll learn how to keep scope down and ship consistently to keep momentum going.

You can do a lot in one day. You could do a mockup and "ship" it via email to potential customers to gauge interested. You could probably set up a Product Hunt Upcoming page in a day and drive people to it. You could also ship a blog post in a day talking about what you plan to build, then see if it resonates with your potential audience by collecting subscribers.

Good luck everyone! Remember: Just Ship It 🚢

You can ship a magic version of your product on a landing page and try to get sign-ups in less than one day. It's a quick and dirty way to do some initial validation before you build your MVP.

I like the idea. How would the movement work? A hashtag perhaps?

I had this idea for a while : Helping Music producers to learn Music Theory in a interactive and fun way.

I'm seduced by the idea of trying to ship a very minimal version of my idea in under 24 hours ! And I think I'm going to try this experiment this Saturday !

Let's keep in touch : maybe we could start a skype session /
twitch session / slack channel to keep us motivated together !

I used lightnote to learn a bit of music theory, it was great.

You can ship a lot in one day.. if you know what do you want.

In my case, I've shipped this in one day: https://opensourceanalyzer.herokuapp.com/
a website to display useful statistics about github projects. Behind there is a crawler that find and store these information for you.

    So my strong point was:

    1. I know what I want, this is for me, maybe useful to someone else
    2. Graphics and so on.. all from a free template
    3. free infrastructure on heroku: no need to build something really
    4. few, messy code right now, but you get the point :D

You can have a bit of fun and put simple 1 page html/js micro apps like these together..

Note: they’re meant for mobile not desktop..

Not exactly 1 day, over a weekend I took an opensource project(called color-theif) and edit/customized it (with additional features like download palette) and made https://www.hdrainbow.com

I've used combinations of chatfuel (bot service), glitch (custom endpoint for bot) and google spreadsheet (to store some data) to create a bot you can interact with on Facebook under a day. I've become a fan of using tools like that to quickly prototype.

I can ship a blog post in one day, from research till pressing the publish button :)

Well is the product is finished why not, right?
