What CRM do you recommend?

Unreadit, my newsletter network, is growing and we are starting to sell more and more sponsorships.

We are currently looking for a CRM to keep track of past sponsors, leads and in general our sales pipeline, since we also want to outsource most of it.

What

    +1 for Pipedrive + Hubspot

At my previous job the sales team used pipedrive, they seemed to like it but had no real insight into the actual value it provided..

Hubspot (https://www.hubspot.com/) offers a free CRM which is fine I think for basic use. They have loads of paid products but the core CRM is free and works well.

If you use gmail and need a simple CRM I recommend Streak https://www.getstreak.com

I built Pigeon which is similar to Streak but has some cool automation features!

Been connected with Fabrizio over email. I think you guys are working together. Let me know if I got that wrong :)

yeah, you got that right. can't wait to try Pigeon :)

It sounds like you have pretty simple needs (no real automation, forecasting, etc.), so most CRMs would probably be overkill.

If you're price sensitive and want the cheapest option possible, I know some people are able to use Trello, Notion, or Airtable as CRMs. None of them are really designed specifically for that purpose, but they're all flexible enough that you can definitely make it work.

If you want something a little more specialized for tracking your sales pipeline, I'm the founder of Less Annoying CRM which might be about the right level of complexity for you. The other product that a lot of our customers consider is Pipedrive, so I think they're worth looking at too.

There are a gazillion other CRMS out there. If you're the type of person who likes to shop around, this is a pretty comprehensive list of the options: https://www.g2.com/categories/crm#grid

Generally speaking, for someone like you who doesn't need anything too complicated, I think anything with a price point above $25/user/month is likely to be overkill. And for the most part, companies with multiple tiers are primarily focused on the more expensive ones, so all else being equal, you'd probably be better going with a company that only has a $25 tier vs. one that has a $25 and several more expensive ones, because that suggests the $25 tier is just a stripped down version of more complicated software which probably isn't what you want.

I love less annoying CRM. What's the life time value of your customers, forever?

      1. 1

Thanks! We're not quite at "forever" yet, but we're working on it. Our churn is about 2% per month, we charge $10/user/month and our average customer has 2.3 users. So by the simplest way of calculating LTV, it's 1/0.2 *$10 * 2.3 = $1150

Keep in mind that we make that over the course of 50+ months so it takes us a looooong time to make back money we spend on things like customer acquisition. But I'd much rather have low churn and a high payback period than the opposite.

thanks, I'll check both your product and pipedrive
