What daily standup tool do you use?

Been working on adding daily standup features to Visual Office, which has made me wonder what the most popular format is for daily standups these days.

Async:

  • Email
  • Plain Slack
  • StatusHero
  • Standupoly

Sync:

  • Video call (Zoom, Meet, Slack call, etc)
  • Audio only

What does your team use for daily updates?

We use Standup & Prosper bot in Slack (async). Does the job quite well.
I find that async format is the best for remote or fully distributed teams, but it requires some discipline or it turns into a simple status report (IMO, if you're using standup meetings to report status, you're doing it wrong) . For mostly co-located teams, daily standup acts more as team bonding than anything else, so format/tool doesn't matter that much.

We use Slack and an app called Geekbot. I'm pretty happy with it.
