What do course creators want from software services?

Considering that I’m building a Saas startup similar to GumRoad (By the way shoutout to the CEO for donating $1,000 to me LOL) I’d like to know what would course creators like to have in this software. What are platforms like GumRoad, Udemy, Podia, etc lacking?

I don't know if I can answer this yet (because I don't have content to sell lol), but the ones I'm keeping an eye on are:

    • Gumroad
    • Podia

And as of late, Convert Kit's Commerce.

Here are the things I want to have:

    • ability to sell presales
    • offer discounts
    • offer purchasing-power-parity
    • sell bundles (PDF + videos)
    • accept various types of payment types
    • export emails (or connect to an email service like ConvertKit)

      What's "purchasing-power-parity" in this case?

Adjusting the price of something based on where someone lives. Here is a link with more info.

I'll share a pain point that may give you inspiration. It's not directly an answer to your question, but it is adjacent, and something I've noticed that there isn't a great solution for.

Email marketing is how one can build a relationship with someone, and 1) most email marketing tools are dumb and 2) not white-labellabled.

It would be great to be able to have a tool that allows me to send modular emails based on a reader's preferences.

For example, imagine I am sending an email to reader A and reading B.

    Reader A's interests are: 1, 2, 3.

    Read B's interests are: 1 and 3.

As the Writer, I write the newsletter with topics 1, 2, 3, and I load up these 'Blocks'. The software then knows when I press send to generate two separate emails for Reader A and B, and only includes the content they care about.

I think that's a decent business in its own right :)
