If you only need static pages, I would recommend a static page generator like Hugo (https://gohugo.io/) or Jekyll.

This generates static HTML pages based on Markdown files which can be hosted anywhere.

It is even possible to host directly of GitHub: https://gohugo.io/hosting-and-deployment/hosting-on-github/

I support the way with Hugo. I use it for solid landings, when I am sure that I want to continue. It gives the freedom of customization, but costs nothing related to hosting (I moved to Netlify last time, as it easier to manage). For quick validation, makes sense to use a no-code solution. Being software developer it is difficult to start use them, but I found out them very useful.

NextJS for both the landing page and blog.
For nice and easy blog styling I use tailwind/typography.

  3. 3

I was recently successful with Astro (static website generator), Tailwind and Flowbite (components for Tailwind). I also relied on a template for the skeleton of the page.

    1. 1

thanks I have decided to go with astro and tailwind.

      1. 1

Can you help me setup it for my software?

  4. 3

We use Webflow for both our landing page and blog.
You can check it here: https://tolt.io

A lot of big brands use Webflow as well, it works pretty well tbh.

    1. 3

Did you use any software to create that frontpage walkthrough video? Looks great!

      1. 1

        Yep! screen.studio

    2. 1

Really like your landing page. Your “dive deeper” is much-appreciated additional detail. Hint: search your page for misspelled “notificaitons”.

      1. 2

        Oops! Thank you :)

  5. 2

I use nuxt with nuxt/content, is easy to use and customizable and also SEO friendly, I made a post with more details about it in my blog https://ideadiego.com/posts/hello-world

Webflow for a marketing site with 30 static pages and more than 150 CMS pages. It does the job and you can control almost everything with the HTML/CSS editor.

The CMS editor has some annoying bugs and the CMS has some limitations in terms of building subdirectories in your site.

https://www.framer.com/ is an option we are exploring as an alternative.

  7. 2

    We’re using Webflow as well.

  8. 2

    For blogs try ghost

  9. 2

I like Webflow for when the website is multi-page. I've previously used SquareSpace and moved away from that, repeatedly tried Wix but don't like their editor.

If it's a single page, I prefer to hand write the html/css and host it myself as it's WAY cheaper and faster.

    1. 1

I work on pretty unproven stuff but yeah the 18/mo for webflow is too much initially

      1. 1

If you don't mind putting some effort in, then I recommend hosting it yourself. I do it on Azure and I think I pay less than a $1/month static website hosting.
I think you can even use Webflow to design a multi-page app and then export it to self-hosting. But I haven't tried that myself.

        1. 1

I have to imagine they gate the export?

Personally, I'm just using cloudflare pages for a super basic site I wrote myself but it probably won't really convince anyone to convert if I haven't sold them on it somewhere else (and the SEO probably isn't great)

          1. 1

I just looked it up, it is a paid for feature now. I heard it used to be free back when Webflow was growing.

Nice, that's a good system you have. Sure SEO and what-not isn't perfect, but early-on you're likely looking at a more hands-on sales experiences anyway.

    2. 1

What did you not like about Wix? Never used it by my brother, who's not a developer, asked me about a good website tool a few days ago and I told him to look at Webflow, Wix and WordPress.com (the hosted WordPress). Figured I give him an update if Wix sucks.

      1. 2

For my experience, by default the Wix websites I saw were noticeable slower to load.
Maybe those are just the templates I have seen.

Personally, the editor was really clunky to use compared to Webflow. But I think that might vary by person.

  10. 2

If you want to have full control over your landing page, you can start with a Tailwind template, although it can be quite time-consuming. Alternatively, you can use a no-code landing page builder like Typedream, Carrd, or EarlyBird (which I created for early-stage startups to validate ideas quickly). The downside is that you can only use the templates, themes, and UI blocks that are pre-defined; you can't customize everything.

For your blog, you can try Medium, Ghost, and WordPress.com if you want to run it on the cloud. If you prefer to self-host, you can use WordPress or Ghost.

    1. 1

“The downside is that you can only use the templates, themes, and UI blocks that are pre-defined.” For Carrd, at least, I found it easier to scrap the templates and just create a page from scratch. Of course, you’re still completely correct that “you can’t customize everything.”

We built ExplainThis (https://explainthis.io) a free frontend engineering interview prep website using Next.js, TailwindCSS, and vercel. I highly recommend hosting on vercel because it's very convenient. The platform pretty much abstract out all the detail you don't want to care about.

To do SEO well, Next.js is also something I would recommend, because you can do static site generation or server side rendering with it. Plus, it integrates the Google Lighthouse so that you can easily see how does your website score on the SEO part.

  12. 1

I just used notaku for blog (it uses notion as backed) and I'm really happy with the result

  13. 1

we use medium for the blog, for a couple of reasons.

    • For the short term, it helps you rank highly in Google, due to the high DR ranking it has, and it's also good to link you with other relevant articles.

After a certain period, it's better to self host it, after it has traction

  14. 1

Astro is one of the best DX experiences I have found when making basic Landing / Blog sites.

I have developed the landing page for my POS web app patronworks.com using Angular Ts. And for my task management tool called Roadmap, I've used React js, link is given below :

I was originally using Ghost to host my blog but pivoted to building my own using NextJS + Tailwind + next/md (markdown).

With Ghost, I was paying for their starter plan ($11/month) but if I wanted to host my blog in a subdirectory (which is supposedly better for SEO), I had to go on to use a business plan ($249/month). Or host my own instance of Ghost.

Since I already had my landing page hosted on Vercel (using NextJS and Tailwind), I decided to try building my own blog. And six hours later, was able to get it up and running with the same theme as my Ghost blog.

Still a few kinks to iron out but quite happy with the results so far:
    Ghost blog: https://blog.moneysavvy.ca
    My own blog: https://moneysavvy.ca/blog

We can create a headless architecture on WordPress tailored for your project.

This will allow you to develop your custom frontend with any modern language.

Have an excellent web layout well optimized for SEO.

Make use of SEO plugins to facilitate the creation of content from the CMS.

More loading speed than with a normal WordPress and much more secure.

Unpopular opinion: we started with Webflow and then moved to WordPress. We found it to be more accessible and we have more control. https://unimind.team/

  19. 1

Previously, we self-hosted our landing page from HTML templates and blogs through Wordpress. Now, we are using Webflow for both our landing page and blog to make the design more consistent with more control over the templates and designs as well.

  20. 1

Webflow if I need more control and Wix if I have team-members that just want to rely on drag and drop. Wix has improved a lot over the last few years.

  21. 1

I am using the tool I built: https://tail.so

It's a Notion based website builder that provides built-in analytics, great performance and amazing SEO.

btw, Tail's website was built with Tail :)

  22. 1

I use Webflow for my landing page and was actually wondering what to use for blogging

  23. 1

the comments here are really useful. I remember had to come up with a landing page and really didn't want to go with Wordpress because it is really old & slow and really an overkill.

Ended up going with this Nextjs template: https://github.com/Blazity/next-saas-starter
and deployed it for free with Vercel.
It comes with a lightweight blog CMS + all the SEO stuff built in so it ranks well on google

  24. 1

For blogs : Wordpress is very good and there multiple free themes that u can use.
Landing page: depend on your product. if SaaS you can hire a designer to build it for otherwise u can just google and find a good one that fit your product

  25. 1

WordPress has got to be the best platform and that is reflected in the fact that over 30% of websites use it. You can also find loads of useful resources and answers to questions for WP as it is used by so many people.

  26. 1

GitHub Pages for most of the new projects

  27. 1

We used Webflow originally and then switched over to Webiny, which is even simpler. Signup box is a form that links to Mailchimp. Super simple

    https://www.strabo.app

  28. 1

So I recently built a service called Busterai.com to detect Ai generated content and I used a really cool, free template at 'https://uisual.com'! 10/10 would recommend for a simple landing page. Otherwise, tailwind has some.

  29. 1

I built a simple static site generator in Dart. I use that for my blogs.

It was interesting to learn more about the code generation side of Dart. But I mostly built it because I was avoiding shipping my actual app. It remains to be seen whether I'll keep it long-term, but for now, it's fine.

I use webflow for landing page

I use Thrive Themes. Does everything I need and more- from drag and drop site builder to A/B testing, funnels, etc.

  33. 1

Mostly Gatsby JS — It requires some coding, but content updates can be done in markdown. And, as it generates static pages, page speeds can easily be optimized.

  34. 1

I'm all into headless cms. I'm making BCMS, headless cms for Next.js/Gatsby.js/Nuxt.js. So if you love having control over every piece of your website, give it a try! Let me know if you have any questions :)

  35. 1

I'm placing up a Ghost theme at the moment. I'll be the usage of a thoroughly managed solution, both Gloat or Firepress.

Hey! For fast beautiful landing page creator my go to is Tilda - https://tilda.cc/ . Super nice premade templates, low pricing, fast, seo friendly

Zyro is bundled with my web host Hostinger - it's good value for money. Maybe not as flexible as squarespace/wixx etc. But useable for my purposes.

  38. 1

For https://lowm.fr we used pure css and Slim framework php

  39. 1

Hey! I use NextJS + Tailwind but also other services and tools to make it easier to build my landing pages.

I made a post on Indiehackers about it, if you're interested :

WordPress, honestly, nothing beats that because it's quick and efficient.

I use typedream.com to build faster landing pages with existing components.
Lastly, I build a landing page for my self-care idea https://tresna.typedream.app/

The base NextJS markdown blog skeleton :) easy to write posts, drop them into a folder, and manage it directly from the filesystem.

  45. 1

Any static site generator will do the job. I use the one in a language I know (Ruby in my case).

    Reasons, amongst others:

    • can build it locally (often on the move; more convenient)
    • can design it however I want
    • can create whatever I can think off
    • integrate with any tool that has an API

Have compaired webbuilders with static site generators, if you are interested in more reasoning (SEO friendly is another one!)

  46. 1

Vuejs for landing page with tailwindcss and notion as a CMS for the blog.

  47. 1

Next.js statically rendered page with Headless Templates for styling.

  48. 1

I recently tried out TeleportHQ. It's really awesome. Export the page to next/ any SSG framework or host it directly on vercel. It's free for exporting.
Note: Editor is less sophisticated than webflow or editorX.
    Extras: Try builder.io too.

  49. 1

Nex.js for landing page + docusaurus / github pages for docs + blog

  50. 1

Carrd (via my referral code!) if you don't want to waste time on the landing pages for validation.

For your blog, use Ghost, easy for people to modify, has newsletter and subscriptions built right in.

  51. 1

I have two very different systems, good ole WordPress (for better or worse). But my personal favorite over the last year is Astro with Tailwind. Hugo is another popular option.

I prefer Astro because it is straightforward to get started with and has excellent documentation.

I also use https://devdojo.com/tails/app for creating components.

  52. 1

I'm setting up a Ghost theme at the moment. I'll be using a fully managed solution, either Gloat or Firepress.

  53. 1

WordPress with Frost work just fine https://www.imakeitwork.net .

  54. 1

I made my own set of HTML + Next.js + CSS components, and whenever I need something new, I just spin out an instance. For example, https://Breckworks.com runs on an extended version of those.

When I am in the Ruby land, I use the same components, but their HTML versions.

Personally, it's the fastest way to get started, although probably not for everyone.

  55. 1

Everybody loves Webflow these days (and it's pretty good for landing pages, to be sure), but I think WordPress gives you just a ton of flexibility for adding functionality and, if it makes sense, huge amounts of content. I'd use a "block-based" theme, though, for performance--not one of the older pagebuilders like Divi.

  56. 1

You can use either Webflow or Framer. Both have the capabilities that will allow you to build damn good attractive design in a matter of days, maybe hours if you decide to build it out from a template.

Both offer a CMS feature so you won't have to worry about that part of the website.

  57. 1

Try tailwind for the landing page.

I’m unashamedly building a monolith in Ruby on Rails. I have public routes for marketing and I have private routes for customers. My blog is a simple Markdown formatter. It lets me write articles quickly in a way that still looks good. I’m still fighting for 100 customers, but I’m ramen profitable, so I’m optimizing for momentum. I’ve tabled the decision to incorporate another blog or marketing page technology until later, and my system is working for me.

    I hope that helps!
