What do I do if my freelancer gets a full-time remote job before finishing a contract? 🤷♂️
I have a contract with a freelancer to finish building Pencil Bible app. He got a full-time job less than halfway through. He is keen to finish building the app, but not full time.
Would love your opinions 😌

Having been in both the developer side and yours, my advice would be a combination of both. Keep him onboard while he still makes progress, but be sincere with him about you trying to find additional help. And when you have that second dev already at full speed, then either he'll understand it's time to go, or you'll just let him go.
If you fire him right away, you'll lose precious time and will make it harder for a new dev to even understand the codebase or reuse any of the existing work.
If you keep him given the circumstances, I can guarantee that he might disappear again or, even if he doesn't, the quality of work will likely be affected.
When I was on the dev side, as mentioned above, this started happening to me. I noticed my work quality started decreasing after a few months because I was just working too much, mostly on nights, when already tired from my day. I talked with my client at the time, and offered to train someone and transition out of the project. He didn't want me to, but it was the right thing to do because I didn't want to compromise the quality of my work.

The pragmatic answer would include how long would it take you to find someone new, of similar quality and how long would it take him to possibly built it from scratch vs how long would it take this guy part time...
Fire the developer and find a new one. Wasted time is a wasted money. I can recommend a few reliable app development agencies based in AU and freelancers who can continue the work in lightning speed.
