I've been looking at tons of different products lately that kinda do this. Logrocket, Smartlook etc. But none of them seem to do what I want, at least not for an anywhere near reasonable price.
Perhaps I just haven't found it yet, but I wonder does this even exist. I really don't want to build it (I've enough side projects π) but if I can't find it I might just have to...
Would love to hear what you guys and gals use for this though π
Im using Google Analytics personally, most people dont know you can use it to track events, but it works great.
I looked at Amplitude and Mixpanel, but they seemed overkill for simple event tracking, they also didnt have good support or documentation for React integration.
I'm aware of Google analytics event tracking. What i don't like is
I might look at it again though...
I have been using Mixpanel for many many years. Setting up a few well-thought-out events will get you a very long way when combining them with the funnel and retention cohorts.
They don't offer play back or anything visual like Hotjar, but it helps me find the pain points in my apps and improve retention.
(I wrote quite a lot about startup analytics, if you are interested: https://togroundcontrol.com/blog/category/innovation-accounting/measuring-innovation-teams/)
Damn you've inspired me to try Mixpanel - for some reason I thought MP was crazy expensive but their free tier looks good.
Also great content - on the page below though you've got a typo, see "forrest" in the copy.

Hey,
We are using Segment to Mixpanel for our analytics, MP is great but expensive. Watch out to the free plan he only include 5 reports, if you want to build a dashboard you use more than 5 reports ( 1 block on a dashboard = 1 reports ).
Aaah ok yes. That makes sense. Thanks for the heads-up!
If you have any questions about Mixpanel, let me know!
And thanks for the typo! I immediately fixed it
