What do you hate about my landing page?

Really looking to push the landing page for https://coco.so to a whole different level!

I like, its nice and clean, the only thing I don't like is the blurring of the text on hover. I tend to find I sometimes put the cursor around where I'm reading (not sure why) and when I did I was a bit confused as to why I suddenly couldn't read it. I first of all thought it was the way the page was being rendered as I just so happened to move my cursor way just as it blurred, and then went to put back the cursor it read again and then realised it was intentional.

The design process page feels a little odd to me though. It doesn't seem right to have to scroll right, its more effort instead of flicking the mouse wheel down. Plus there's 3 scroll bars, the normal browser scroll bar, and the container which scrolls horizontally but it also slightly scrolls vertically.

Wow, the 3 scrollbars are certainly not intended haha.

Yeah, eventually I'll make the blur more intuitive. A lot of people love it but for everyone like you it's a massive pain.

FWIW the design process is horizontal to have a photo book appeal and thus slow.

      This ^ about the blurring.

Honestly, it looks great and I like the branding @dennismu , you got a nice domain too!

    Quick fix:

    • Don't know the design process is horizontal scroll, add an arrow?
    • Those mobile mockups would be nicer in a mobile frame

You've inspired me to update the landing page of a silly project :)

Haha the domain was luck. Basically the only coco.TLD. And so cool as a reference to Notion. :)

The arrow is a cool and simple idea! So far I didn’t choose actual frames because I want it to be simple and frames slightly complicate the design and draw too much attention. :)

      Thanks!

    Nothing.

I think your landing page is fantastic. Your "Design Process" story really inspired me. You seem like an excellent storyteller and an even better creator. I will be following you for your future work and stories, keep it up!

    Well done you!

Thanks so so much, Jack. Your words mean a lot to me! So important to hear when some days are tough. :)

The horizontal scrolling was way too manual for my liking.
    blank space on the page.
color scheme (Grey background is dreary. I think crisp white would have been nicer)?

    ps: very inspiring.
    pps: Hello from Cape Town.

With "way too manual" you mean not fast enough? If so, that's on purpose. I don't want people to just flick through the story. :)

      Thanks for your feedback! :)

It looks broken on my iPhone SE

Mhh, you're not the first one to say. Will need to dive into this! Thanks!

👍 I'm usually not this blunt but as you specifically asked "What do you hate"

On first glance the page doesn't communicate if this is a cross platform app or iOS app only (it's iOS in the screenshots). If it's iOS only I'd put a nice device frame around the screenshots, see https://www.facebook.design/devices

Thanks, I specifically ask like this because I have no hard feelings about this. I want this to be world-class and so need to get honest feedback. Sugarcoating helps no one.

Thanks for the link. Yeah I'll add a little more around the supported platforms. A minimalist web version is coming soon :)

I don't know if that's indended but it looks like the "Get started" button is within the email field

    Likes:

    1. The blurring of the text
    2. Theme (color scheme)
      Dislikes:
    3. Too much blank space on the page
    4. Home is vertical scrolling whereas the design process page is horizontal scrolling, confuses me as a user.

    Hope this helps :)

    1. 2

Thanks for your thoughts! The Design Process is horizontal to have the touch of a photo book where you flip through pages. :)

It seems the comma after "the app" throws me off. The hovering on the email is neat.

The blurring of text to highlight the main point is really cool, but I think the event to trigger it - to hover over the text - doesn't make much sense to me. I think it should unblur after you scroll over it.

I checked out the site on my phone, and the header is disjointed. I am on an iPhone SE, so I could imagine I am an edge case (640 px width). The main h1 still has a really large sizing on my phone too.

Other than that, this looks like a really well-thought out app! The habits is a game-changer for me, personally. I was frustrated that Todoist didn't track them or show how far you went.

    1. 1

@dozo Thanks for your feedback! Yeah the mechanism of when it blurs needs to be improved.

Need to check the looks on smaller phone sizes for sure. it's too easy to just check on once's own phone.

What makes the habits a game-changer for you?

      1. 1

Habits are what make up a person, I think. Completing todo lists and attending meetings/obligations anyone can do, but building up a habit that pays dividends is hard and for some reason not a focus for a lot of apps out there.

        1. 1

That was one of my ideas to start with. How can you make building a habit easier? By integrating it deeply into your day. What's the best interface for your day? Your calendar.

This train of thought got me thinking.

Haha, thanks for putting in the work fiddling with the HTML. :)
It's a good point. Before you showed me this I liked the current version better. Now I am thinking. But there is the point of consistency, this would be the only place where the dark text is on an different line than the grey text.

Not sure this actually is a problem. My conversion rate is really high. I would argue I have too many CTAs (even though they anyways all do the same)

Yeah fair point, will definitely play around with all the CTAs. Too much leverage there to give it away.
