What are the questions/topics that you would find most valuable to be covered in a podcast that talks with founders about the early days of a business?
I think the biggest marketing pull as I scroll through my feed is just the brand name ie how big is the guest they have on this episode.
If you're just starting out I'm sure that's not the easiest item to accomplish however so I have a different proposal:
Business Therapy
The podcast episodes are not self-contained but rather follow an actual arc in that in 1 episode interviewee presents current problem they are facing and that problem is analyzed for a half hour. Interviewee(entrepreneur) comes back in a week, 2 weeks, a month and explains the fallout of their decisions/actions and how it all played out. This yields itself to two-part podcasts where part 1 is problem presentation and part 2 is previous guests solution presentation.
This causes the audiences to invest in the characters you are developing by making them live for more than just 30 mins which inflates their value to the audience.
Beyond creating intrigue, this strategy also inspires action as we are not simply talking about what one has done in the past, but rather what they will do. Then the audience holds the entrepreneur accountable by actually hearing about how they executed. It creates a sort of "if they can do it that simply then I can too" sort of mentality.
Dude!
That's some good feedback/ideas!
I'll be sure to take it on board and think about how to implement it in making my podcast better.
Thank you again and I'll let you know if we think of a way to implement the feedback!
Hey Julian!
You forgot the shameless plug for DULO's podcast! (https://weardulo.com/blogs/the-early-days-podcast)
I would say make it either actionable or personal, let me explain:
Those were my suggestions, hope it helps ;)
Cheers!
Shameless plug and thanks as always Pedro ;)
Both very good points!
Let me think about it, whether we can implement some of the feedback.
I'm just digging how we can make the podcast more valuable, rather than just a conversation about business.
Thanks again!
I am tired of podcasts about another entrepeneurs. I just want something different. Self-motivation maybe?
You mean self-motivation in general as a topic, or conversation with entrepreneurs about self-motivation?
The second one.
How can you not be motivated? What's the alternative?
Well I mean, one of the most hard things of being entrepeneur is self- motivation , wake up everyday happy it is so hard. You leave a regular job for a dream and you don't know if you will fail. For me it is hard because I stop of do things I like, for example travel abroad or playvideogames, help my family, etc. Just for start a company. Sorry for me english

You don't have to leave it. I'm building my business WHILE working as a full-time developer.
Then the priority is having and needs to be calibrated with your ambition. What do you want to do/achieve? If it's play games, play games. If it's to build something, build something. Both are viable and you can be happy doing any of the two. But don't have the ambition to build something and not match it with your actions.
About the last one I mean you stop of doing relaxing things just for your priority in this case build a company , if I start to play videogames in a bad time I can lost many clients. Sometimes we need do sacrifices for our little baby , but one day you wake up thinking if it is worth it. I don't mean only videogames , is just a bad example. I mean family , friends , travel abroad.
Got it.
a lot of podcasts are great at inspiring, but I wonder if there could be one that makes you do something 🤔it would be cool to see a new format...so guess my answer is a cool format
You mean a step further than motivating, but actually get you to do something and hold you accountable?
Yeah just an idea, it could be a small section of the podcast
Cool, will think about it 👍
Thanks!
As some other people mentioned, there are plenty of founder stories out there already.
What gets me listening lately? Actionable/educational stuff that I can apply right this week. For example, I've been listening to the MicroConf videos while I'm in the kitchen cooking. They impart all kinds of ideas of what to do in marketing, advertising, cold calling, etc. They're also very motivational!
Motivation has come up a few times. Interesting data point.
I guess that's why the likes of Gary Vee etc. are catching a lot of attention.
Got it! I'll think how we can implement it in the podcast.
Thanks for the feedback!
