We are onboarding the supply side for https://geeksandexperts.com/ and I was wondering what kind of experts would be most helpful to users.
Being technical, I'd need some help with:
So many questions :D
I completely understand - there are always so many questions!! :)
Would you mind sharing that if you could have a 1:1 chat with someone you admire in this Indie hacking domain (who has built/shipped/sold a business) who would it be?
I am pretty new to IndieHackers, in fact this is my first message, so I'm not sure I can answer that question yet! Sorry.
No worries at all! Welcome to IH.
Technical mentorship! Being a non-technical founder (ok, I did a bootcamp and I am building my own app, but I am no expert!) I would love a helpful "geek" ;)
That's good to know! I'll see if I can help you with that for sure. What are you working on right now?
A web app to help people in the gymnastics community manage and score gymnastics competitions
User acquisition on my end =)
I am building a reverse job board (i.e. an ideal role board) --> https://myperfectjob.club/
Getting to a baseline number of profiles where it becomes interesting for the hiring folks is my biggest blocker now.
This is so interesting! I have never thought of this concept - what made you come up with it?
Thank you! I think it's pretty interesting as well =)
I wrote about it here in more detail (https://www.indiehackers.com/post/im-building-a-reverse-job-board-for-product-designers-an-ideal-role-board-c0a2fc59af), but basically I just am fed up with mismatched recruiter outreach and seeing endless posts on LinkedIn about new roles. I felt like there has to be a better way -- so I built out a quick MVP in a week and have been adding to it, while trying to organically drive folks to create profiles.
That's awesome!! I'll keep it in mind :)
Audience building, especially for heavy tech founders.
True, I know what you mean. What has been your biggest struggle with audience building?
MVP review. An expert who can review a MVP based on experience and not assumptions.
That's interesting. So an MVP builder?
A beta product that can achieve product-market fit through expert review.
Super! Getting initial feedback on your MVP is key.
Product marketing, most definitely.
I understand, Andrei. It is extremely challenging but also so crucial. What avenues have you tried to do the marketing?
Definitely 3!
At FreelanceGPS.com I've gotten significant traction with the small number of users we've acquired, but getting the word out to get more at scale is proving to be a challenge.
Thanks for sharing, Tim. How did you go about acquiring the first users? Are you using the same medium to reach more users?
Started with partnerships (Youtube videos, cross-publishing to other creators email lists).
Will continue to do this as well as investigating other channels.
