What do you prefer? More expensive & less scalable, or cheaper & scalable?

Pricing is one thing that is important when developing a product or service. And one thing that a lot of people struggle with.

"how do I price my product or service"

Some people prefer to build things that can reach a wider audience and that has a cheaper price. While other prefer to build something more specific with a higher price tag.

There's pros & cons to both obviously, if you want you can share your thoughts in the comments.

I believe is really hard for indie hackers to target wider audiences. It's hard to reach them, and you're probably fighting against the giants of the industry.

On the other hand, when you're serving a small audience, you can really hit a nerve because you're not trying to please countless and widely different users, you're just trying to solve a very specific problem for a very specific group. And that also makes it easier to reach them, because a small and homogenous group probably gathers around a few places. And because you probably won't have as much competition, and you're solving an exact pain, you can price your product/service better.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
You made some really good points.

I tend to look at things from a constant depth, then breadth motion. If you look at all of our favorite companies, they start out doing something very well. As they gain the usage/funding/revenue, they will continue to gain depth but will have the freedom to start to expand their breadth to adjacent capabilities.

Think about the biggest companies, they realize they've maxed out their market so they start doing other things.

Definitely! Hence why the spend so much on "R&D" (but also probably to not give so much to uncle $am haha)

That's definitely a perk too hahaha
