What do you think about Copycat?

To put it simply, "originality is overrated."

To quote Jim Jarmusch, "Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent."

I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as it isn't an exact copy. Try to also make your own improvements and I think you're fine!

I think it was C.S. Lewis who said something along the lines of "man has never imagined a truly original monster, only combined parts of other things he has seen".

I think they're a good way to get a first win. You can do something more ambitious next time!

I guess it depends on how “copycat” it is. Is it a service that already exists? Yeah, fine, whatever. Competition is good for a market. Is it a character-by-character, pixel-by-pixel replication of somebody else’s work? Well... I know I wouldn’t appreciate that very much. Does it fall somewhere on that scale? I guess let your conscience be your guide.

As long as it doesn't break legal law, it is completely fine.

I think coypcat it is necessary , you start to copy sucessfull model business from another countries and apply to your local market , so then the entrepreneurs community start to grow and angel investors start to look at your country . Now you have a startup culture and new projects born. The best example of this is China , and now in latin america we are doing it , almost all the sucessfull startups here are copycat from another countries , but fintech sector is growing a lot here , so new original startups are borning everyday .

I talk about Startups sector, but I think for an indie maker is the same, you need first learn by doing and when you have enough confidence you start to do something new. Greetings :)

People often have the same ideas at the same time. When I founded my first startup I was surprised at how many competitors popped up at once with similar business models. Some seemed to be direct copies sponsored by my company, but in many cases it was simply a result of people having similar ideas at the same time.

Chances are good if you see a problem and the technology to fix it now exists, other founders have spotted it, too.
