What do you think about "indie hackers available for hire" job board
I shared this idea a couple days ago but didn't get any response. So would really appreciate your thoughts.
The concept is that indie hackers can seek and apply for jobs with their resumes. Startups can post jobs and fulfill roles from the applicants. I thought of this "indie hackers available for hire" because there's a looking to partner up group here which has many job listings, so I thought it could be done better.
Job board is simple and ready to be taken live only I don't have a niche to serve.
So far I have thought of indie hackers available for hire and remote jobs. But can't really decide.
Which one do you guys think is underserved and has more demand? Also, if you have any other niche ideas, I'm totally open to your suggestions.
For a few years I've been saying this is the way to go. It's definitely an employee market when it comes to hiring in tech. Ever since that episode in Silicon Valley when Gilfoyle decides to quit Piped Piper and starts "looking" for a job. There's a scene where he answers his phone and without even looking at it says "Dazzle me" and waits for the pitch from the hiring person.
Also, there is a huge group of silent developers that couldn't be bothered to look for a job but wouldn't mind taking one if something nice came up. They're just too lazy to go through the hassle and they usually don't have to. Me included.
So yeah, I think there's definitely a market for a "reverse job board". I thought about building it myself because all those job boards seem to be making crazy money. If I did I would call it DazzleMe dot com or something like that.
The most important thing would be how to filter the spam messages. It would need a built in messaging system, you can't give out your email to recruiters because they'll spam you to death.

What do you mean by "reverse job board"? I couldn't follow that.
I do have ideas to prevent spam, and as you say employers and job seekers will both have their accounts so I can block spammy ones on the account level. A dedicated messaging system sounds like a great idea. I should think more about implementing something like that.
By "reverse job board" I mean that it's the developers making listings and then companies looking through them and not the other way around.
Oh got it now. It sounds like a great idea. For me though, I'm planning on keeping it like a regular job board because I plan to charge companies for featured and pinned listing.
I don't know how monetization will work in your concept. Do you think that you can charge developers to post their availability? Or maybe planning on ads?
No, just charge the companies for access to the whole website/list/database or for being able to message the developer.

We chose to work for ourselves that's true but only for a few that's actually working out. A vast majority are still struggling with their projects. This is where points 1 and 2 popped up in my mind. It does sound like a gig but I feel it fills the gap. I'm not sure either.
I knew that remote jobs had more demand, in fact, indie hacker jobs can be fit into that, only thing is there is huge competition and there are established brands in this space. So I just have it as a thought.

You're different, Anil. I have seen IHers speak about working on part time roles to support themselves financially. That's the kind of vibe I'm going for. Idk for sure. I might end up doing this, or the remote job board, or any better ideas I find through feedback.
I don't believe in luck but thanks 😊 for wishing me that. I'll somehow try and validate this concept, and ideally do a little research to avoid wasting my time.
