I am a big fan of doing brand deals as a supplementary income stream to fund my business - but I see heated discussions about this daily.
What do you think about selling sponsorship places in your podcast or newsletter, doing paid shout-outs, or building projects with a particular stack and getting paid in return to promote a brand?
To give you an example of what I am doing: I am creating videos for a web hosting company that go live on their channel - 4 videos a month.
These videos are purely educational 90% of the time, with 10% being videos to highlight certain features of their platform.
With this partnership, I am keeping the lights on while I am growing the revenue from my course, teaching creators how to get sponsors. (I know how to get those deals, I am still learning how to sell courses lol).
Is this a topic that you considered? Do you have brand deals already, or do you feel strongly opposed to them?
Let me know what you think in the comments; any feedback will be super helpful.
Thanks!
I accept that any free content I consume and get value from may have some element of sponsorship or an affiliate link call to action.
Likewise I’ve no issue offering the same with my content and those that complain… well I guess they aren’t getting value and i might need to improve my content 😬
Ha, I love that perspective on getting negative feedback on your content.
It's so hard to hear when people don't like what we're doing and get vocal about it - but those lessons are super valuable.
I'm still working every day on sorting through which feedback to listen to (and implement) and which feedback to ignore because it's just noise.
Thanks for chiming in!
Well sometimes the feedback is just from a troll and I ignore that ;)
