I'm experimenting with a slightly unconventional CTA on my landing page. Instead of a Sign up
button, I'm prompting the user to do something a bit more interactive.
Do you think this works for a journaling app? Check it out here.
I've implemented the main piece of advice, which was to delay the sign up prompt until the user has had a chance to try out the app.
I also added some subtle color tweaks to help the main sign up CTA stand out.
Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! š„
Hi Behn,
I like it, and I think it will work, but as mentioned in the comments already, the button said "Challenge this thought", so i'd expect to see some more interaction before i'm asked to register. Give the user more of an experience so they see value before they hand over their details.
All the best š¤
I took a stab at delaying the sign up prompt until after the user has experienced more of the app. Great advice! What do you think? https://www.secondthought.app
Woah this is so much better!! Going through that process feels like I actually got some value out of the product, which makes me want to sign up, and thats the goal. Hopefully you'll get some more conversions.
Thanks for taking a look! This is great feedback. Iāll try updating my flow to let the user experience more of the app before they have to sign up.
Good idea, but on clicking "Challenge this thought" I'm shown the "login or register" page and that's not what the button suggested.
Yeah I see why thatās confusing. If you were to register youād be taken to a page with your initial message preserved.
Maybe I should try adding the signup prompt later in the flow.
The question is intriguing and it does draw you in. I would go for a stronger colour on the CTA button. Also on the next screen maybe change 'Submit' to something more positive like 'Get Started with Journalling' š
Ah yes! That does have a lot more personality.
Hi Behn,
I like how the landing page is minimalistic, crisp and to the point.
Here is some feedback:
Like the main idea and like the CTA dude! :)
Very cool idea. I like the landing page's overall calming aesthetic.
I was expecting something to happen after clicking "Challenge this thought", however. I think you need some sort of payoff to reward the user before even presenting the login page.
Well really it doesn't have energetic feeling. It just made more gloomy feeling.
Just change colours and login form structure.
Also add more images and Background images.
Love the idea but was still not ready for signing up... We need people creative like you in the WBE Space
Really like the site but the button makes it bait and switch which may annoy me more and make me leave. As many have suggested give them a little something followed by, if you need more in depth analysis create a free account
I'm actually really liking it. I'd change 3 things that I kind of noticed really quick:
other than that.. it looks really neat. calm but not boring
āCalm but not boringā is exactly the vibe Iām going for! Thanks for the feedback. The login page is definitely a weak spot in the flow.
Really nice landing page, and I love the idea of making SIGN UP button not so SIGN-UPPY š And I agree with the offer to choose a brighter color for your CTA button - it will draw more attention.
Well done!
Thanks Justin š
Itās a bit of a tricky balance with the button colour. Given the nature of the app, I donāt really want to create a sense of urgency. But at the same time I want to guide the user along to something useful.
It's a great idea to give the user something to do instead of just convincing them to sign up. Kudos! Everything else has already been said :)
First of all I like the overall design of your landing page.
But to your question:
I'm agree with the other comments here.
Whats about creating an anonymous after an user click the first time "Challenge this thought" (and store it in the localstorage or as a cookie)? The user can create an "real" account later and until then he can't use this thoughts on other devices and has some limitations.
Yep, I think thatās exactly what I need to do. Thanks for taking a look!
Hi ben good point!
