Can I instead of writing my own content do something what Hiten Shah does with Product Habits (https://producthabits.com/news) ? Will it hurt my SEO?
π I built that page πThe backed is what Hiten wanted when I originally built it, a quick way to aggregate content from RSS feeds and other sources and review them.
As I understand it, Hiten was curating all that content already to find the best articles to include in his weekly newsletter, so making a page to post them in realtime made sense, as it was work he was doing any way. Really Hiten is producing a mix of original content and curating content from other sources.
I don't think it will directly hurt or help your SEO.
Brilliant job done on that page @Mubs.
I feel that I cannot do justice by writing the content myself. Time as well as quality constraints. I am thinking of converting it to "Resource" page so that users can find valuable information/links on a single site. This will definitely not increase my SEO but can maybe become useful for the users.
I'm on his email list and really appreciate what he sends. π
He's also been at this a long time and understands what his audience needs.
If you're questioning whether it will hurt your SEO, I wouldn't suggest doing it at this time.
Maybe down the road you can add it as another outreach method once you're firmly established with your SEO and have a bigger following.
I feel that I won't be able to match the quality of the content of other blogs. What do you feel if I convert the blog page to a"Resources" section? So that users can find curated information/links. It won't improve my SEO but can help the users.
Thoughts?
I'm always for testing new things.
Test it out and see how it goes.
Can I ask why you can't match the quality of other blogs?
As I see it, it's better to spend time on a well written article that you produce once a month than to post crappy articles every week that people get little value from.
If you manage to write like Hiten Shah on that level, it definitely won't hurt your SEO.
Sorry now I understood what you mean, it's curated news for the industry. Yeah, if that curation is useful for your audience and you are able to do it on a high level, please do it. I'm doing it but in a newsletter format: https://us11.campaign-archive.com/?u=a459401212599a54203d036ee&id=a139b1852c
Mixed emotions, though. This curated news list would be useful for your audience, and they will remember you as a curator (if you position yourself right), but it wouldn't necessarily help your product to sell more. So I wouldn't recommend it as CORE strategy, indiehacker time should be better spend on the product or marketing of product itself, not industry news curation.
