Hey fellow hackers! Sandro here, founder of DEVY.io
We are a pre-vetted expert marketplace for Web and Mobile Development and Design. Basically, the client tells us what he wants and we get it done with the best quality for a great price, an evolution to current marketplaces like Fiverr and Upwork.
I'm a developer myself so marketing is not my strength (working on improving this!), so creating a marketing plan is a bit tough. I've come up with this 'plan' that I'm looking to get your feedback on from seasoned marketing pros.
We will very soon have our own blog on the website with unique content in hopes to attract visitors from search engines (SEO), meanwhile, I'm posting the articles on LinkedIn.
The plan is to post the articles on the blog, replicate them on LinkedIn with a reference to the original one and put a reference to what we do at the end of the article. Publish on Instagram and Facebook mentioning the new article and be active on Instagram to get some engagement and account growth. The idea is that this article will feed our socials.
I know that this might seem a very basic approach to marketing to some of you, so I wanted to see if you guys have any suggestions of other things I might do to improve this and try to get the word out about the company.
Thank you all beforehand for any tips :)

This is a great starting point. You're taking a very straight forward approach:
Create content -> Share content.
This is great. But here's what I'd push you to do... Spend more time on the distribution side of your content marketing equation than you currently plan on. It's great that you'll be sharing it to LinkedIn but the reach is going to be limited to your contacts. Here's a few ways to give that content even more reach:
And so much more...
People under estimate the power of distribution. We've heard the idea that 'content is king' so many times that we forget that you need to get that content in front of people. The 9 tips above should help you get started but if you want more - Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y11SsoJxO0c
Thank you this is amazing advice!
Do you know how I would go about getting the content redistributed by other publications like you said?
By the way, the video is not working, unfortunately.
Thanks again :)
Hi, Sandro.
What are your objectives? What do you expect to achieve by doing content marketing?
Brand awareness and in the end attract new costumers.
Content marketing is a good idea for getting sales over time (as potential customers will eventually find themselves to your business through the articles). I'd suggest consistent content + promotion in relevant communities online like Reddit. Providing content directly to communities that will find it useful will surely build a reputation for your brand.
Don't mean to toot my own horn but π― I run a content writing business for businesses that need blogs and articles.

Which one is more important to your business now?
I'd say new clients right now
SEO usually takes 3 to 6 months to start generating traffic. If what you need now is clients, I'd recommend you to do a combination of SEO and Online Ads.
I do understand that, I've started with ads already, also need to improve on that part.
But right now I feel like getting this organic strategy right, anything else that you think I could add to this mix to this mix?
I have a lot of questions about your business. Do you mind if I email you?
How long you been running devy.io?
There is sales and there is marketing. Writing articles comes into marketing.
Something like your firm would probably need an outbound sales strategy where you actively prospect for clients. Unless you have enough clients already.
Any content marketing strategy will only bring results in the long term. In the short term, hard core sales is probably the only way to bring money into the company.
I don't know if this answers what you were asking, but I answered based on what I understood from your post.
I would do the things you are planning but focus on direct selling right now.
Who are the 10 people you know would use this? Or should use this? Talk to them. See what they need and want.
Don't be afraid of direct outreach. I heard this on a recent IH podcast. If getting new clients is important, you'll probably have much better luck directly talking to people than just looking at conversion rates on ads. When you talk to potential clients you'll get to understand why or why not they'd like to hire your platform.
SEO and ads are important and more scalable. So don't not do them. Early on, though, direct outreach may give you a huge boost and earn money early on.
Thanks for your input! I'm always a bit afraid of direct outreach as I don't want to feel spammy haha
I totally get not wanting to feel spammy. I haven't done it myself to know the best approach. I think, though, if you're just conscious to not be spammy you won't seem that way.
Like if people don't reply, leave them be. Don't use automated tools that send the same message to everyone. You could read people's blogs first and try to tailor the message to them so it feels more personal.
It also doesn't have to be email. Can be any sort of social media. As long as you're polite and helpful the interactions will be good.
