Good intro, if someone is going to binge listen then it could get annoying I think. 20 seconds is long in that regard.

Really appreciate the feedback! This is really good to know. It’s hard to balance having too much in an intro vs not enough info for new listeners.
To be honest I like how @csallen has removed the intro altogether. I just feel like I need to give at least some context (whereas the Indie Hackers podcast is well established and really doesn’t need an intro anymore).
Do you think I need one at all? How short should I make it?
FWIW, I just brought my intro back! Not having the intro wasn't really helping to reduce dropoff, and I missed the intro music which provided a unique branding opportunity, and maybe a little bit of a Pavlovian effect. Lots of people emailed me to complain about removing the intro, too.

You will need to A/B test this once engagement and following come in. I recommend with just the 5-6 second beat because it's instantly recognizable and if someone listens to more than one podcast then it has a tendency to humm (am i spelling it right?)

I'm going to start with a super short intro (you can hear the current version on my latest ep https://share.transistor.fm/s/c49f03ad) right now while I am recording it on my commute (just to set a theme).
My plan is to ditch the intro altogether when I am recording with a proper setup.

I regularly watch a YouTube channel about architecture who now have a 24 second long intro. It's so annoying even if I watch one episode a week.
MKBHD has 5 seconds and Nathan Latka has none. They have good following and the context is already perhaps set which is understable.
However, Fomo.com has no context particularly set.

Well props to you; it’s a tough life (but worth it!).
In the first episode I go into detail about why I’m making the podcast. Basically I’m trying to document what I’m learning so other people might benefit from it (hopefully) and also do I don’t forget it lol!
I record it during my morning commute to my day job since (like yourself!) I have to balance the side hustle with the day job and my family :)
