We have been getting requests from students looking for internships. These students are highly motivated to gain real life experience and at the same time indiehackers are also looking for people they can assign some work to.
Why not connect these students to indiehackers?
First work is a platform where an indiehacker will be mached to student intern and this can become a win win situation for everyone.

Is this market big enough ?
There are students who are paying to get internships. Now there are so many indie hackers with lots of work but limited financial resources to spare for an employee. Connecting these two can be helpful for both.
This is my understanding, now let's see how this turns out.

This strongly reminds me of what https://aiesec.org/ or https://juniorenterprises.eu/ are doing, with local chapters in a ton of universities in the EU and globally, basically, giving students "experience opportunities".
Hiring out students is a very established business model (e.g. https://www.zenjob.com/en/ is big in Germany), and some countries have decades of proven history (e.g. Germany with its "working student" concept, a certain legal employment status only for college students).
I like your idea, and specially that you want to focus on SMB, but are these interns? Or cheap labor? Or cheap labor that is cheap, because they are still learning, on the job? You might want to talk to your target group to make sure that "intern" and other definitions are clear and understood.
I think this is a fantastic idea! Many students are seeking internships, and indiehackers are looking for assistance. By linking them, students can gain valuable experience, while indiehackers can obtain additional support. It appears that the platform would benefit all parties involved. However, it might be a good idea to have a process in place to ensure that the students are qualified and capable of fulfilling their assigned tasks.
Greate idea, I'm doing this in Vietnam. we're connecting students to companies.
Problem is that we have so many students and not enought companies.

Great idea! Looking forward to seeing how First Work can connect students and indiehackers for mutual benefit.
We are planning to manually screen the student profile and then match them with suitable business owners.
I am not sure though if indiehackers will pay for this .
Could there be a different monetization model perhaps in play? Companies paying for interns will have lower adoption level, your goal here should be making meaningful connections and converting interns into future IHs. Money will come, but the relationship must remain "pure", and you need as many IHs as possible in the beginning, thus don't think about the money - think about the size of the problem you are solving and who cares about it first 👍
The interns will be paid a little from the money indiehacker pays initially. And this is a one-time cost. once the intern is connected with the indiehacker they can mutually decide to continue to work together as long as they wish. We want to ensure that the intern is paid in the first month through us and also that the student is serious about the internship.
College students are usually a flight risk is what I have seen in past few months. Ensuring that they will start and complete the internship is a huge challenge
