What do you think, should I leave it free or make it paid?
I have created a directory of websites that categorizes them into four main categories: tools, platforms, networks, and games. After publishing the website on social media, it has received many repeat users, which confirms the success of this side project. The directory submission is free now, but I'm thinking of making it paid because the site is growing and getting traffic.

Maybe you did not understand the idea, or I did not understand your answer. Any way, it is not the users who will pay to use my site, but the owners of the sites who will pay to list their sites. When this directory becomes very popular and gets a lot of visits, the site owners will want to obtain those visits through this website, as it will provide them with targeted visits.

Well there are a lot of sites with listing and ususally the business model is that the listing sites offer "Featured listings" and similar, essentially you pay to either be top of list or by having more information visible.
Yes, this is what is meant. There will be attractive features to pay for, such as being at the top of the page and being appointed with a featured tags , something like that. What do you think now that you have understood the idea, can it find success?
Very hard to say. I don't think anytime soon unless you have the ability to give huge amount of traffic coming from your site.
I would advice that you start adding UTM tags when you link to other websites, that way they can easily see that you are the one that generated that traffic to them.
If i am spot number 5 and i see i get 100 visitors per week and 1 customer per week from your traffic, then I might pay to get to spot number 1 to increase the visitors to 500 visitors per week instead.
But if i right now get 1 visitor a month and you can at best give me 10 visitors per month then it's not worth it for me to pay anything to you.
I agree with you on this. It all depends on the traffic. So my goal now is not marketing and publishing the site until it becomes very well known. Then I can convert it into a paid one.

It depends upon the launch date and traffic. If I was you, I will keep it free for at least 1 year and think about it monetizing after 50K Unique monthly visitors.
I think the same thing. Now I get some profits by displaying ads, but the profits are few
