What do you think will happen with Twitter?

Assuming the recent events, what is your prognosis? It's really worrying.

It's gonna be bumpy for a few weeks (even months), but Twitter won't go away.

      Hopefully...

I'm loving how Elon Musk has been building Twitter in public. It's motivating to see a founder who cares so much about the product, and it makes me excited to see more founders join the trend after this.

  3. 3

It is going to stay. I hope so because I have yet to see another convenient platform to connect with others.

In case it won't work out, here is my LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kostja-palović-6b9b34231/

But I think the worst-case scenario – it will be sold for pennies.

I agree that Twitter is quite modern in terms of UI, so it would be sad if it goes away.

  4. 2

The funny thing is that those who wish for it to die are tweeting :) Musk is cleaning the swamp and by doing so twitter users are more engaged. He knows what he is doing. It is impossible to turn everything around in a short space of time, but eventually it would work out.

I think it will stay. It'll go through a period of turmoil, changes, and adaptation but it'll survive.

What's ironic is that I've seen many trending topics like "#byetwitter" or "#twitterclosing" and such. Which means there's engagement and people tweeting so there's audience and very few folks going away.

Besides, what other social platform like it it's out there?

    Mastodon? yeah right...

I believe Twitter will be in better shape ...

The tweet flood about what Elon musk is doing with Twitter is getting worldwide attention that draws a lot of people to Twitter.
Although it also trigger many left Twitter also.
But I believe the number for new users will be more than number who left

Nothing gonna happen. It will be the same as always.
    Just some white noises :-)

People don't understand how chaotic most companies are. They are under a spotlight so everything seems worse that it really is. They will be fine.

  9. 2

It'll be fine on the technology front. Clearing out the dead wood will probably improve it. Musk oversaw the development of reusable rockets and electric, automated cars with continuous updates. Has he forgot how to run a tech company? Or are Tesla's imaginary?

But there are financial and political issues. As always there is risk of losing your contacts. If someone gets banned you lose all your conversations with em, even PM's

Might end up declining somewhat, if for no other reason than advertisers leaving for more stable platforms... but I don't see it dying altogether.

  11. 1

Nothing, not much has changed yet (apart from a blue tick).

  12. 1

The question is not whether it'll survive; I think it will.

The question is whether it'll be an enjoyable service to keep using. With the reactivation of Trump, Elon himself spreading false information (see the attack on Pelosi's husband), and less (much less) workforce to keep bots and misinformation at bay, it's simply becoming Parler.

Well, I guess that's good news for far-right and MAGA supporters, though.

  13. 1

Hookers will continue to post porn on twitter.

  14. 1

Twitter is essentially the world's town square 🔔

Understandably, the erratic nature under Musk is making everyone nervous, and the multitude of doom scenario headlines aren't helping. However, in all likelihood it will offer new services on top of its current model and aggressively monetize them going forward.

Annoying for some, but for those who have built their audiences on it, it will likely continue to thrive until something better eventually usurps it.

  15. 1

It might as well end up okay. I think it's too soon to judge.

  16. 1

I think Twitter will survive. Also, they will launch official tools for content creators, which will affect many saas products. They will also make their bot detection AI more strict which will cause the banning of many real accounts. Also accounts with fake followers will be shadowbanned......

  17. 1

I think Twitter will survive. There is no such platform like Twitter; some people are calling out LinkedIn, but that platform caters more to business-academic oriented people. Whereas Twitter has a variety of audiences.

  18. 1

I think Twitter will become bigger. The amount of media attention Elon Musk is getting right now is crazy and all for free!

  19. 1

If you just think about money, you don't kill a $44b project . It will stay, and be improved massively to something else. Application X.

  20. 1

It is worrying. It is upsetting. It is nervy, what is happening with Twitter. It's a gut- feeling, but I think the worries and fears and apprehensions about Twitter will fade away with time, because I think Twitter will survive.

    1. 1

I really hope so, since it became quite a big platform to just fade away. Even though history knows such examples

  21. 1

I think Twitter will be just fine. They'll weather this storm and it will be fine in the long run.

  22. 1

Twitter will stay, and hopefully they don't fuck up the developer ecosystem like they did back in 2010 (basically banning all Twitter clients).

  23. 0

Twitter isn't going anywhere. This will all die down and advertisers will return. What we're left with will probably be much more unregulated. But lets face it, you can already get away with mostly anything on there. It's already awash with bots, racism etc
