What do you use for design/wireframes?

I long time ago, I studied graphic design and since then, when I need something for my projects, I use Photoshop or Illustrator.
I was wondering if there was any newer softwares for design, layouts and wireframes nowadays. What's the must-have or what do you use.

For very quick wireframing, you could check out https://balsamiq.com/

For high fidelity mocks I would recommend figma.com, although Adobe XD isn't bad either. I just have deeply rooted personal issues with Adobe, but XD is one of their only products that is free (for now at least).

      Ditto on balsamiq and figma!

Oh Thomas, there were good old times when Photoshop ruled the ui/UX world)) I missed them a bit. Not sure if there is one tool for graphic and UI design work now, but I manage to do that in one.

Straight to the point. I highly recommend Figma. It is webbased, it is highly colaborative, it has built-in animation and prototyping tools. Once I tried Figma I’ve never looked back.

And to the “looked back”. Also there is Sketch tool (Mac only), Invision studio, Adobe XD, even Framer. All are good. But if you want to iterate and collaborate quickly – try Figma.

And let me know if you need any advice with it.

Thx for your reply, I'll definitely look into it

I really love Whimsical (whimsical.com) because it is fast, easy and the wireframes end up looking pretty good. I am not a designer so not sure if it would be too limited for someone who knows what they are doing.

Figma and Adobe XD, either of the two, will allow you to design wonderful things. I personally use Figma, but I recommend you spend a day or two on each to make your own choice! You may have a preference for Adobe XD since it naturally integrates with Photoshop and Illustrator really well. I'm amazed by how far Adobe has taken XD over the past months and there are even some aspects where it's ahead of Figma.

Either way, Photoshop and Illustrator are still unbeatable in their own terrains when it comes to anything beyond UI Design!

Miro and Whimsical are top tools I'm using. And I recommend ditching that Adobe products for UI, and UX design in general. Figma is much better with suitable third party templates and plugins for this.

    Wireframe Kits
Validate your ideas and speed up your design workflow with our component based wireframe kit.

Old chap Sketch is also nice with tons of resources.

Check out Figma, Adobe XD and Sketch.

Adobe XD is great and free. I tried Figma and liked it too. I just prefer to work on files on my computer rather than in the cloud. Figma is probably better for team collaboration than XD though.

There is Figma for desktop too

Yes but it only has partial offline support.

        https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040328553-Work-offline-with-Figma
“If you know you'll be without an internet connection, you should prepare by opening your files while you are still connected to the internet. Without a connection, we cannot load your files from the cloud, and you won't be able to edit.”

I like having actual files saved on my computer and synced with Dropbox. Gives me peace of mind to have all my files locally for when I’m on the road or when my Internet goes out.

          Yeah, that's sad, but true...
