What does signing cofounders agreement mean?

I saw people are signing cofounder agreement without including lawyer. I guess they use it to be „safe“. I have some doubts about it and I need some explanation. This agreement seems non valid, it seems like people are signing them to be sure they can work on a project.

If I sign cofounder agreement what does it mean? Does the person who sings it get the equity no matter what? Is that agreement valid legally? What if I or other person wants to terminate it?

I'm talking about signing it using online service like DocuSign or similar

I recently asked about this here: https://www.indiehackers.com/forum/launching-a-startup-with-a-friend-cofounder-agreement-bb64c74a57

It is more about having a clear understanding of what the project is, and what the cofounders agree to.

I think it's very easy to just 'assume' a lot of things but you do need to have some things in writing to fall back on.

Great thanks. Let's say I sign agreement with someone. And he does nothing and refuse to quit and later on he comes back (if company succeeds) and he says: Look I have X% equity based on this agreement
