What email/newsletter service do you use?

Mailchimp. You can segment or create different audiences with their own opt-in forms.

If you don't want to segment: I use substack too. You can as well, set up different substacks for each segment you'd like, but that's clunky!

I had to choose one of those services very recently.

I wanted it to have some CRM features too, so I've tested HubSpot, Close, Pipedrive, and MailChimp.

Guess what - I chose MailChimp because maybe it doesn't have many CRM features built-in, but it handles gathering emails and sending newsletters in a perfect way and at a cheap price too!

If this is only what you need:

• gathering emails through forms or API
• grouping your contacts
• sending automated emails
• sending newsletters and updates

then I think you should try MailChimp ;)

I personally use Mailchimp, seems to be working perfectly for my goals and still on free tier.

I just set up Mailchimp today. Lonely Dev uses Firebase authentication, and Firebase has cool extension to sync all new users to Mailchimp.

Using Substack, doesn’t have all of the features I need but good enough for now. Also working on https://kogram.io/ which is a newsletter publishing platform which aims to provide me the features I need to run my newsletters business. It’s meant more for businesses that fully run on as a newsletter.

A lot of people are recommending MailChimp, so I will definitely check them out.

Another solution that I was considering was MailGun but I'm not aware of anyone that can share their experience with them.

I use Convertkit which as a lot of helpful features and just recently added a free tier.

I'm pretty happy with buttondown.email - simple & clutter-free, easy to integrate and just works.
