I have an ongoing AppSumo launch for MonitUp and I've learned a lot so far.
https://appsumo.com/products/monitup-employee-monitoring/
First of all, the ongoing AppSumo launch has not been very successful for me because MonitUp appeals to companies rather than end users. B2B products are a little difficult to sell here.
You should have 2 main goals before launch:
1 - Sell your product, earn money and improve your product.
2 - Gat feedback from customers and spend the money you earn from AppSumo to improve your product.
The first confirmed MonitUp launch page really sucked! After researching and learning, I developed the launch page.
1 - RoadMap : RoadMap is the last feature I added to my launch page. I think it's very important because you have to give the impression that people who come to your page will grow your project and won't be able to buy into the numbers sold on AppSumo in the future...
For RoadMap I used the free tool frill.co: https://monitup.frill.co/roadmap
2 - Social media accounts of your product: Here you should try to gather people who love and follow your product. You should ask for their opinion as new features are added.
3 - FB groups are really effective and useful, I suggest you spend time in the group and ask their opinions and consider them. I made my first sale through these groups. You should spend time in the group like members, make comments, ask questions about your product, etc. If you share a direct link, your automatic post will be deleted by the group, so I suggest you contact the group founders directly.
4 - In AppSumo, you can look at competing products and compare prices and features and make decisions accordingly.
5 - AppSumo support team is a little late to respond, but they are more than willing to assist you. They suggested I add Stack codes, they added the TL;DR part, and they said their design team would make a free design for the launch page. As a technical man, I accept that the designs I made with $0 budget are ugly and I agree with them :)
6 - Good after-sales comments are very important, because the more good comments you get, the better for AppSumo mail promotions, advertising campaigns, etc. with more free advertising for your product. I haven't received any comments yet :(
More details on comments:
5 reviews (with 4+ taco rating) = Facebook Shoutout in the official AppSumo Facebook group with over 16k members
10 reviews (with 4+ taco rating) = Friday email newsletter shoutout (sent to our hyper-active list and Plus members totaling 185k+ subscribers)
20 reviews (with 4+ taco rating) = Additional Exposure in the Rising Star Collection on the AppSumo homepage
25 reviews (with 4+taco rating) = Sunday email newsletter shoutout (sent to 3 of our highest converting email lists of 210k+ subscribers.
The 20 review metrics includes addition in the Rising Stars Collection on the homepage. Additionally, since our algorithm is largely driven by reviews, as these start to come in, you can qualify for additional collections on the homepage as well.
MonitUp has made 7 sales so far, 3 of which have been returned.
I would like to add the link of a much more detailed and successful launch here: https://predis.ai/resources/how-we-made-42000-in-1-month-from-appsumo-launch/
I would love to hear your experiences too, I hope it will be helpful.
