Post on IndieHackers! I've been working on promoting Sitesauce and have found that one of the best ways to do it is to post helpful comments with a non-spammy link to your product (like I just did here). People get the help they need and often they'll check your product out 😁

I pulled the trigger on running an event. I barely have the chops for it but I'm doing it nonetheless. I am sponsoring a live event demo for my app in DC Arboretum. I aunched on Eventbrite and people are signing up. Terrified. Lol

It happened on Friday 29 Nov. It bombed lol. People who signed up flaked. It's alright though, got it done. I survived. I will do another, and another. I am glad I did it. Shows weaknesses in my game.
One thing I tried a bit this past weekend was answering questions on Quora. I thought that if I posted helpful answers with links back to a longer blog post I could get referral links. However, I didn't get much traffic and some answers were removed. Has anyone used Quora for generating traffic in the early days of a website? I'm just talking about getting a handful of qualified visitors.

From what I understand, it's a longer term game, you have to really not focus on promoting your product so much and also have some kind of impact in the area you are trying to target.

You're right on it being a longer-term game. Takes a while to find the right mechanics of the platform and the audience. But as long you keep writing good content, the odds of your answer scoring well will significantly increase. Not everything will work, but that's just part of marketing in general.
Thanks! I hadn't seen that post before. That's very informative. I didn't realize how sophisticated Quora is. It looks like I definitely have to think longer term.
