As a maker, it seems that having constant motivation, drive and resilience is key. So what happens when things don’t go your way? What have you learned from past experiences / failures / unplanned life events / lay-offs, even successes?
After a lot of (hobby+business) projects I have learned that I need to work together with others to realize projects.
I can be the creative person that build prototypes and learn what it takes to do machine learning, SQL, functional programming, test automation, security testing, decompile apps or build them.
I am also the person that find business opportunities and can make the money "rain".
All this takes me no where if I don't do projects all the way.
What is nice is that there is a lot of people that are "doers" that want to be given projects (not me, I create the project), and there is also a lot of people that want to manage projects if they see value in the end (not me, I find the value).
When it comes to motivation I have found that most people need a constant daily feed of "changes" or "news value".
I always try to keep some task around that is not urgent that can give me a boost, but it should not be something you can go to too often to procrastinate. Think as a deliverable to the project manager as a carrot to keep him/her quiet for some time :p

what did you mean by "news value"? does that mean something worth reporting on?
I belive the need for "news value" is the essens of what differentiate humans from other animals. Do you ever go 30min, 10min over even 5min without reading on your phone, thinking about a problem or are focused on a task? This need that our brain have for constant changes is what I call "news value".
You can see that it is the basis of all in our society. We want to automate the boring stuff and keep us occupied with things that fill our day.
The idea need time to grow on you to see the far reaching implications. I often discuss this with friends who now also get it, and are loving the idea.
Ah gotcha. Thanks again for sharing!
