What I did, point by point before the ApiFlash product hunt launch.

I just posted ApiFlash on ProductHunt. Let’s see how people receive this!

About the launch, here is what I did:

1. I hired this guy on Fiverr to make the logo animation. I used to use UpWork to find freelancers for design work, but it turned out Fiverr is quite cheap for quality work. I paid 6.63€ total for this animation.

2. I made screenshots of the product hunt submission process to avoid continuously going back to check the constraints and requirements.

3. There is an animation on the homepage of my website so I figured it would be nice to display that as a gif in the product hunt gallery. I did some modification so that it fills the entire screen and recorded a video of it with SSR and uploaded it here: https://youtu.be/xK1s2TwznK8

4. I took screenshots of the product and wrote all the needed text in a google doc and in particular, the tagline, the topics, the description and the first comment.

5. About the time of launch, on an official product hunt blog post we can read:

There is no single best time, but there are considerations to keep in mind. The homepage is based on a 24 hour cycle, new products hit the homepage at 12:01am PST and are added throughout the day. Product Hunt does not adjust for time zones so be sure to double check you are launching at the time you’d like to in PST. There is no “magic” time to post, but it’s best practice to do it before 9am PT so there’s enough time in the day for people to discover and discuss your latest creation. If you decide to schedule your post ahead of time, that time is also based on PST.

Nice information but it's well known that some days work better than others. I decided on a time of launch using https://whentolaunch.app/trend and settled on tuesday 7:30-8:00 PST which translates to 16:30-17:00 Paris time. I added a google agenda event with the correct timezone to make sure I didn’t messed up the calculation.

It's been up for a few minutes now, here are the stats from the launch dashboard:

Nothing besides my vote and my comment. 😬 But, I'm not on the product hunt home page yet since products of the day haven't yet been updated. I will get in touch with my friends and see how it goes! 😃
