So two weeks ago I saw a tweet by Robin and he share amazing productize service. So I liked the idea and started working on landing page and the system that will run everything. But when I started brainstorming for name of the service I started taking inspiration from Twitter search Google and on brandbucket and in this process I got some people actually doing same that I want to do...
Even tomorrow one person which actually giving same service follow me on Twitter so what he think about when I release the product in build in public...
So what you think should I start this service?
As I have some experience in this field because I doing same work for my previous project but at low scale...
Please comment below your valuable thoughts ๐ญ and help me to get the motivation back that I get on first day when I actually got that Idea.
Thank you for your time โ ๐๐
Ideas are cheap and it's a good sign if there's at least one competitor because it means that the idea is viable. Execution is what's expensive. Execution is also where different people and companies diverge.
To me that's a good sign, but I would check on this first: if most of them are struggling with customers, then you need to look into why, because this could mean that what you're building may not be what people will pay for. But if most of them are doing really well and profitable then it's a great sign that you have a product that people will pay for.
Thanks Faraz for your response I really like this approach...
BTW markfolder looks amazing but I really love to see a mobile app because I mostly scroll Twitter via mobile ๐ฑ
All the best with it ๐
You're welcome!
And thanks for the feedback on Markfolder. Yes, mobile app is high on the request list! I'm working on it as we speak. You can follow https://twitter.com/markfolder for updates.
I think you should go for it.
When I create a product which already exists, I try one of the following:
That's actually what I will do, find a few apps that has bad reviews and execute better. We will see. :)
This is a good thing. Keep building it, and if do it better than they do you have nothing to worry about. All this means is that your idea is viable.
I'm currently building my new product www.engageful.app
I have a Trello card of about 20 competitors, it just means that you are solving a meaningful problem.
Define "the same" :) If you have experience and better understand the struggle/problem/issue - just wrote to potential customers and talk to them.
If you solve it better => you will win them as long-term clients.
Sameness doesn't mean much unless you are trying to create a direct competitor to Google or Amazon.
Go for it ๐
I actually like that, gives me validation that there is smth there. I usually go look up the people and the company and try to convince myself I can do it better
