What I learned from 30 failed side projects

Indie hacking has taught me a lot — some days I'm an engineer, others I'm a designer, marketer, salesman or visionary. It requires me to learn a lot of skills and gives me the confidence to be able to tackle any problem ahead of me.

But I've learned just as much about how to be a better friend, brother, and person as I have about how to build a business. I learned to see outside myself, to always see the bigger picture and how to live with a purpose.

I think that's most important when going into business — doing the right thing for customers, your team and yourself. I'm proud of how far I've come and I'm excited to keep going.

If you'd like to read a little bit more about what I learned from these projects you can do that here.

I'm curious -- what are some of the life lessons you've learned?

I have learned a few things.

    Talk is cheap.
You don't work, You don't eat.
Eat the elephant one bite at a time.
    Learn to think for yourself.
Too much thinking can be bad, if it leads to analysis paralysis.
Good idea is a small part of it, execution is everything.
Good idea is valuable, hide it and guard it.
    Closed mouths don't get fed.
It's a lonely game, learn to embrace the loneliness.

The loneliness one is a tough pill to swallow, but I’m getting better at it

To having my own back no matter! That has been my biggest lesson.

You can have the most amazing product or service in the world... but if no one knows about it (aka marketing), then you're going no where.

    Marketing is key
