What I Learned Using Reddit for Marketing and Lead Generation

When working on Leado, I ended up spending a lot of time studying Reddit as a marketing and lead generation channel.

What stood out quickly is that Reddit already has massive buying intent. People openly ask for recommendations, alternatives, and solutions to very specific problems. The challenge isn’t demand. It’s catching those conversations early and responding in a way that feels genuinely helpful, not promotional.

A few things we learned along the way:

  • Keyword alerts alone miss a lot of high-intent posts

  • Timing matters more than volume. Being early changes everything

  • Replies that focus on solving the problem outperform direct pitches

  • Generic automation fails fast on Reddit. Context is everything

This is ultimately why we built Leado. The goal wasn’t to spam Reddit, but to help founders detect real buying signals and respond thoughtfully while the conversation is still active.

Reddit can be an incredible channel when done right, but it’s unforgiving when done wrong.

Curious to hear from others here:

  • Have you used Reddit successfully for marketing or lead generation?

  • Do you see it more as a brand channel or a direct acquisition channel?

  • What’s been the hardest part of using Reddit consistently?

Happy to share more lessons learned if it’s useful.

Appreciate the breakdown here. Reddit seems brutal until you lead with experience instead of links. Did you notice better results when conversations came before any mention of the product?

100% yes. when you lead with the problem ("yeah I had the same issue") before even hinting at a solution, people actually listen. the moment they sense a pitch, walls go up.

Good post. The "contribute value before promoting" approach is underrated.

One thing that made a big difference for me: targeting posts with 0-5 comments instead of jumping into popular threads. Less competition, your reply actually gets seen.

I use Wappkit Reddit tool to filter by comment count across subreddits - what used to take 40 min of scrolling now takes 10.

What subreddits worked best for you?

Alex, love the mission and onboarding flow of Leado. How does trust play out on Reddit? It’s way more anonymous than Linkedin. How do you convert organically?
