I spend quite a bit of my time looking at online businesses... from the buyer and seller side, and there’s a pattern I keep seeing.
A lot of sites look great on the surface. Clean design, decent traffic numbers, and even some revenue.
But once you look a bit deeper, things start to fall apart. For example, revenue that depends on a single traffic source; traffic that comes from places that are hard to sustain; or income that looks good one month, but isn’t really predictable.
What I’ve learned is that buyers don’t just care about how much a site makes. They care about how stable and transferable that income is.
Two sites making the same monthly profit can have completely different values depending on how that profit is generated.
Curious if others here have seen similar patterns, especially when building or acquiring projects.
