Hey Hackers!
Most of us have to do multiple activities throughout our week/month. I noticed that when I don't map my activities on a calendar I just ruin my entire schedule for the day.
On the other hand, sometimes an unexpected activity may pop up and that leads to disturbance in the planned schedule :(
If an AI could plan your entire week for you, as well as modify the schedule in case you were not able to follow it, would you use such an application on a daily basis?
So you just need to execute and your plan is handled actively bty someone else.
Check out https://www.usemotion.com/. Their facebook ads were very creative that's where I learnt about them.
I'd love to try it but I'm skeptical if it'd actually work for me.
Hey! Thanks for your honest feedback, I'll look into the app you mentioned :)
I think the time I would spend using the app, listing my tasks, I could organize my schedule myself.
I get what you are saying. The main problem being listing is not so hard but arranging it so across days so that your goals are achieved is where the tricky part comes in. We don't want to give a high level perspective but tell our users what to do everyday and every hour:)
Speaking as someone making a day/week/time planner type tool, there are sooo many of these types of tools: reclaim.ai, clockwise, etc.
What are you bringing that's new to the table to compete with these types of apps?
Hey Satvik, thanks for mentioning the platforms :) As much as I understand through their website, they help design the team calendar to make team meetings more efficient. Am I right?
If I give a quick idea to you about what I want to build is, it would be so:
So you just need to know the tasks and a few things :) All the micro things of plotting those tasks on a calendar will be done by the algorithm, keeping in mind deadlines and all your personal preferences.
No, that's not the case, they also work for individuals. See Motion (https://www.usemotion.com) which is a better example. They basically do exactly what you're proposing, breaking down bigger tasks into smaller ones with a road map. That's also going to be a feature in my app as well.
Thanks a lot! Looks like I am trying to do something similar.
Looking forward to seeing the app :) and all the best with the same! WOuld love to connect with you on Twitter and discuss your vision for the app!
Would it look at historical data on your Calendar and then be able to see which you've attended and which you haven't? I think if so, it might be interesting for Enterprises as they have tons of calendars that are connected to others and they are always looking for ways to be more productive, and one way is by cutting unproductive meetings. So perhaps you could make this idea work?
I really loved how you mentioned an application of the same for the enterprise. I was actually mapping on something similar. Many people know their deadlines but find it hard to manage their hours. That's what I want to solve.
So just for an example. Employee A has 4 tasks to achieve with different deadlines. He tells us the deadline and time he expects to complete the task. Then the AI (or maybe a simple algorithm) will consider the same and map a daily schedule for him. Meeting and collaborative tasks will be taken care of by seeing mutual availability :)
A roadmap (which can be modified) will help them save time and start working straight away.
This idea feels something very similar to what you have mentioned?
Most people have a hard time properly scheduling their weeks, so what makes you think an AI could do it better? Don't get me wrong, AI is powerful, but how would it fit things in your schedule based on your preferences of getting things done or organization?
I agree with the points you put forward. By AI I just mean an automated way to get the hourly/weekly schedule.
Consider I know that I need to deal with 4 tasks with different priorities this week. What I observed is just knowing doesn't help, but when you have things mapped with the time (Ex: 2 to 4 pm Monday: Work on fixing the bug) it's easier to go forward.
The role of the AI is just to make sure that the schedule is not too random and we take into consideration things like variance in timely completion, breaks, priority and deadlines and plot a smart schedule on your calendar.
The devil is in the details here, but I have to say — as someone who is rigorous about planning and execution — I'm skeptical that it could work effectively.
Successful execution is bi-directional: yes, on the one hand, you derive top-down plans and execute on them, but on the other hand, your execution cycles inevitably lead to bottom-up discoveries that should alter your original plans.
AI could perform the "top-down" function well: simply dictate to you what you should execute on, according to the original plan. But it seems to me the "bottom-up" function must be handled by you: the person executing on the plan. And to make matters worse, the better and faster you execute, the more bottom-up adjustments you'll have to make!
Hey Channing, thanks for mentioning the possible frameworks :)
If I give a quick idea to you about what I want to build is, it would be so:
So you just need to know the tasks and a few things :) All the micro things of plotting those tasks on a calendar will be done by the algorithm, keeping in mind deadlines and all your personal preferences. I
f there are some changes in your schedule you can change the priority, deadline, or add some other tasks and the calendar will be rendered again for you!
Is this what you meant by bottom-up adjustments? If not can I get a small example so that I could understand it better?
I would love to know if you have any doubts or any question related to the same :)
