My problem
Hey everyone, lately we've finished first place on Product Hunt and got 300 hundred signups.
We converted some of these users into paid users. However I think the number is pretty low (less than 10%).
I'd be curious to know:
Thank you for you time!
There are some interesting benchmarks here - https://microconf.com/sois-report-2021
Product Hunt traffic is probably not going to give you data you can rely on for future traffic, but I'd say <10% is indeed quite low so you can definitely try to improve that metric.
Thanks for sharing these useful insights
A few pointers.
API based approach: https://github.com/rwieruch/purchasing-power-parity
SaaS solution: Paritydeals (Provides Public API, VPN Security, Banners etc.)
Congrats on getting paying users!
Conversion rate varies a lot depending on market. I would say you shouldn't make any big decisions on the launch metrics except maybe if it's definitely your target market.
See what the rates are in a month or two! That traffic will probably be more interested in your product, rather than just checking out the front page.
Got it - thank you very much Fredrik for your input!
In my opinion this is a normal number of conversions for traffic coming from PH.
The average free trial conversion rate for opt-in trials (email only required) is 25% while for opt-out (credit card) it is 60%. You then have the likes of Loom and Notion which have free plans but with capped usage - this conversion can vary but typically sits in the middle at around 40%
What method are you currently using?
Currently using opt-in trial (no CC required), conversion rate is about 10%. I suspect that we have many curious people rather than people actually interested in cold emails
