What is @levelsio's network worth?

We're all fans of @levelsio, but a frequent critique of some of his projects is that they're only successful because he has such a large social following.

I think this critique is unfounded in most cases because he's also an excellent builder who moves fast and has a good sense of what makes a product successful.

However, he recently posted an experiment he's running, a job board of AI related jobs:

His idea validation is approx $1,000 MRR.

Now in my opinion it's pretty hard to differentiate a job board, and success comes basically from driving traffic. The more people visit your job board, the more it's worth for businesses to pay for listings.

With that I thought it would be neat to essentially do an A/B test with what @levelsio is doing, since we can take the product out of the test.

With that I made promptjobs.co

I have zero social network, so I bring no organic traffic or brand recognition to this test. My approach would be to do SEO, paid marketing, maybe a little bit of growth hacks, to essentially see what it would take to replicate his Network effects. What does it take for me to get to $1000?

I'll share all my data! Follow me here on Twitter if you want to get updates as I will build and market in public:

The current site was done in an afternoon just off of a great WordPress theme that basically did all the work for me.

Now my next steps are as follows, in no particular order:

  • Add-in various SEO tools to wordpress
  • Either manually enter unpaid listings, or build some pipeline to fetch job listings and publish it on the job board
  • Start with a LinkedIn campaign targeting the prominent companies in the space, as well as job seekers.
  • Post the site and as many locations as I can find
  • Create all the socials
  • Automate a bunch of content
  • Install a bunch of pixels and run retargeting campaigns.
  • Automate the publishing of a newsletter, push that up all the socials.

Anything I am missing?

PS: I know nothing about SEO really haha

Well that social following is a hard work over the years, he built successful startups which are his legacy and nobody can deny that. If you reach that kind of following you won't use it to launch another project?

Yeah of course I would! But I don't! And neither do most people.

Absurd!! He built his network over the years, dude has 1400 + days streaks on WIP.co. Only a non-serious founder can hate him.

Audience is extremely important and not everyone is as extroverted and capable of gaining people like that. That's why people are salty.

Who's hating on him? What is WIP.co?
