What is success in marketing?

I published my practice a week ago. I've been sharing for a week on social media for marketing. Returns are available but no sales.

Today we understand that you can only increase traffic with social media. The application requires one-to-one communication with users. Today I'm going to create an email list and continue.

Success in marketing is something you define yourself. You need to set goals, like getting XXX amount of traffic, and converting X% of that traffic into customers.

If you see results but no sales, you need to think about whether 1) you're getting the right people on your site, 2) people know how to convert, 3) if this is a product that they need.

But you can only do that when you have significant numbers, 12 visitors and 0 sales doesn't really say a lot (obviously I have no idea how much traffic you have).

If you're still early stage, pumping out some social media updates is usually not the best way to go.

Focus on sales by sending emails to your potential customers. Make the emails look good, focus on what they're getting from it (this is the only thing that matters to them - so no 'Hi I am X, I build XYZ, and you should try it'.)

By the looks of it, you're saving them time, you're improving their workflow, and all in all, they're just going to work smarter. So focus on why that benefits them, make it a personal email too. Look at their website, understand their pain points, and reach out to them.

Also, I admire your quick thinking and going to the next thing. But trying something for a week and not seeing results doesn't mean you should instantly stop doing it. Pick 3 marketing channels (social media, cold emails, and another one) and do all 3 of them for a month at least. Then go back, dive into your data, and see which channels are working and which aren't. Replace the channels that aren't working with new channels and go from there.

Marketing is a lot easier and will be more successful if you're building momentum. This takes a while, and that's fine. Set goals for yourself, what do you want to get out of your email list for example? If you believe you will sign 3 out of every 100 emails you send, and you want 30 customers by the end of the month, that means you need to get 1,000 email addresses. So set that as a goal, work on it every day, and analyze what you can do better.

    Good luck!
