What is the best and cheapest landing page builder?

Hey brothers,

We are planning to launch our product soon and we will need to prepare a landing page to explain our product.

That's why we need to find very simple landing page builder that will not cost ton of money. Such tools like Unbounce, Wishpond, Instapage - are too complex and expensive for us. We need very simple tool like Carrd.com.

Do you know any similar simple and cheap tools?

Thanks in advance for your recommendation

Carrd is really good and cheap, why not use that?

Or Versoly is worth a look too.

      Thanks @rosiesherry

Carrd is a great solution to start with but most customers want something a little more flexible as they grow.

Versoly is built for SaaS companies. We have templates and blocks such as pricing tables built for SaaS companies.

We recently added a blogging CMS https://www.producthunt.com/posts/blog-by-versoly/ that did very well on PH and customers have swapped from Carrd, Squarespace, Webflow and Wordpress to use it.

Do you have any discounts for new startups?)

        Hey Volkan!

You have really nice tool. How big is your team? Do you already generate revenue with it?

        1. 2

          Me and my co-founder

Yes, we have a bunch of happy customers :)

          1. 1

            Nice.
How long are you already on the market?
I like that you are focused on SaaS landing page. Smart move :)

Started Jan 2019, "launched" in Nov 2019.

I love the SaaS space and it is growing fast.

      Thanks @rosiesherry

Versoly is very nice and looks to be more powerful than carrd.

Here's a list of products we've been using/tried in past:

    Landen
    Carrd
    Webflow
    Wordpress
    Mobirise
    Wix
    Squarespace

What kind of features are you specifically looking for? What is your budget? Would love to help you out.

    1. 1

Wow you have tried a lot of builders :)

If you had time I would love for you to check out https://versoly.com/ any feedback would be much appreciated.

      1. 1

Unfortunately, I had to. Would definitely check out Versoly. Just to get some context - what is your pitch?

        1. 1

          Depends on the customer :)

For now we're focused on SaaS, so we allow early stage companies to create landing pages and websites that convert.

We started off as one page, but we quickly learnt that customers needed multiple pages, then blogs.

We're currently testing analytics. We collect 25-40% more data than Google Analytics and it is very easy to track events.

I need to build landing page for SaaS startup. I need to have there different types of section to have images + text, form submission, maybe blog.

Btw, Landed looks very good. Nice suggestion, thanks for that. I will take it into consideration.

Squarespace also looks good, but I'm afraid that it will be too complex inside. As I know they are quite big, so they need to meet needs of different types of website creators. That usually creates a lot of complexity inside the interface :)

Glad I could help. For early traction/market research/content marketing/social listening for your upcoming product, you can check out https://getarmada.app/.

Hi, I first used https://8b.com which is very similar to Mobirise and the best is that you can even download a zip file for free and then host the page wherever you want.
You can check my own landing page which I "bootstrapped" with 8b and then quite heavily improved with time (https://photoinsight.io).

    1. 1

Download the zip file is a very nice-to-have for a free plan, many thanks for the information.

Information: are you still using 8b? Any issue/tip to share after the year elapsed since this comment?

      1. 2

I'm not using 8b.com anymore, thanks to the initial source code I did all the updates manually and I even did a huge refactoring/rewrite. But for a non web developer like me it was an outstanding starting point. Especially if you want a responsive website.

        1. 1

Nice to know, many thanks for the reply!

    2. 1

      Interesting solution.

When you plan on adding a blog or more pages how will you do that?

      1. 1

8b.com helped me improve my knowledge in authoring a website. In my personal case I choose to use hugo for other pages (documentation and release notes).

      2. 1

As desktop app developer I had no skills to build a modern landing page from scratch. So 8b.com was a good starting point. Today when I want to update the page I manually edit the code. If one day I need to add more pages I think I have enough "material" to make it myself.
Anyway you could also choose to let 8b host the page for you and stick to the integrated editor.

Unbounce is one of the gold standards out there. They did/do have a non-advertised starter version that is free. I've been using it for the past two years. Only limits I see are number of visitors per month is capped at 5,000 (not sure what happens if you are lucky enough to exceed this amount).

There is also a limit on the number of pages (although you can have what appears to be unlimited A/B variations) you can create (might be something like 10). Ive also not exceeded this amount either.

Has the standard banner at the bottom that says Unbounce. Lots of templates.

  5. 1

    Depends, how technical are you?

    1. 2

I know HTML and CSS, but prefer to create landing pages without using that skills :)
      The easier, the better :)

      1. 1

GatsbyJS has some decent templates and is free to host with Netlify

        1. 1

Any specific advantage of using GatsbyJS? Wouldn't that require some coding skills i.e. react?

  6. 1

I like using mobirise, though the sites need a little tweaking afterwards.

    1. 1

Should you install their software on the computer to be able to create websites?

      1. 1

you have to install the software and create an account to be able to create websites

        1. 1

I think that it's very big disadvantage of this software...

    2. 1

What do you mean by tweaking?
Mobirise doesn't have some important features in their builder?

      1. 1

sometimes you have to add some padding or margin manually, but it rarely occurs. Also metadata in the html header cannot be set in the free version.
All in all I would only recommend it if you want to build somithing okay looking quickly and concentrate on other things.

        1. 1

          Thanks for clarification

  7. 1

Best and cheapest are generally mutually exclusive.

    Best: Webflow
    Cheapest: Carrd

    1. 1

      Why is Webflow the best?

      1. 1

Imo, it has a powerful designer (one of the best I've used), reusable symbols, CMS (data storage), and CDN hosting. These are enough reasons to make it the best for me.
