What is the best and worst thing on Linkedin?

What are the best or worst sides of Linkedin for you? and why?

  1. 3

I'm an engineer and what I didn't realize until I started selling software to recruiters is that Linkedin is made for recruiters. That means all the posts, the content is catered for content marketing and branding for startups to get more visibility and leads for their hiring needs. It's not a network designed for engineers, but for engineers looking for jobs. And that sucks.

If you delete all those connections though, it's like a pretty decent job flex platform.

  2. 3

absolutely no authenticity left on linkedin, I stopped using it.

  3. 3

Worst: The spammy email notifications recommending users to follow. Best: I don't know, the worst thing kept me away from LinkedIn and the platform looks ugly.

  4. 2

Best thing about linkedin is being able to use this dude's extension to block out the home feed haha https://www.hidefeed.com/ (Can only block one site for free. LinkedIn definitely deserves to be that one site)

    1. 2

The feed is definitely Linkedin's worst feature. A bunch of adults tooting their own horns and people inane, imagined stories of how 'inspiring' they are.

  5. 2

I've abandoned LinkedIn - it lost its original purpose because of tools that help you boost your posts

  6. 2

Best: Almost everyone in my personal network is on LinkedIn.

Worst: The copy-pasta of posts is something really annoying and you can't trust any original content on the feed.

  7. 2

Best is the ability to reach out and contact others otherwise hard to reach. The worst is the lack of truthful transparency; nobody wants to say anything truly critical to peers even if it makes sense (it’s a bubble).

I have prepared a MVP for the people who thinks Linkedin profiles are not enough good to express skills and capabilities. Please check my landing page on https://confirmedin.com

Best: I can stalk on people and get interesting facts on some new technology/startup stuff

Worst: People can see if I open their profile (even accidentally) which sucks.

Coming from a resume and LI Profile enhancer/editor, who is pivoting to a B2B strategy...

Best: People make legitimate connections leading to jobs and the completeness and professionalism assists the perception of their brand.

Worst: They don't see to have any innovative ways to market to those who could truly use your services except for services with exorbitant fees which price almost everyone useful out of their system. I did some direct messaging with a value added message and 3 value added options to those who I was 100% certain needed my company's services. Response rate was abysmal which can mean many things, including I didn't appear any better than the charlatans and carnival barkers who approach me and waste my time every week. It's really a pathetic platform vs. what it could be. But as others have said, it's not for the average user; its a facilitation tool for recruiters disguised as a career helper.

Best: Good to get in touch with people in the same industry from all around the world
Bad: The current wave of scam artists, usually trying to sell you something related to Bitcoin mining. Last time someone offered me a 800% profit per week opportunity ..

  12. 1

    worst: engagement posts

second-worst: seeing someone post that they got a new job and it's the one you applied for.

What do you suggest for integrity and accountability to the truth. How a platform can provide this ?

Thanks for the detailed answer, I agree with you, If downvotes or upvotes are anonymous would it contribute to honesty or vice versa? What do you think?
