What is the best site to start blogging and monetize in 2022?
For someone who wants to start blogging and monetize their content, which is the best place to start?
Few things to note:
- Cost to setup .
- Ease of use and management over time.
- SEO.
- Mention other factors one needs to keep an eye on.

I'm personally using Substack! It focuses more on the writing part and is ideal for newsletters (which lets you have ownership of your audience!). Substack also doesn't lock you in and you're free to export your subscribers and move to another platform. I hope this helps!
There are 2 questions here.
Best place to write: In the long run (for SEO), on your own domain. So Wordpress/JAMStack (on your own domain), or Ghost/Substack set up with your own domain.
Best way to monetize: This is why you want to choose a platform you have control over. If you write or Medium or Substack, for example, you'll have limited options for monetizing (less flexibility in monetizing with ads, for example). On the other hand, with Substack/Ghost you'll have it easier if you want to monetize by requiring people to pay-to-view some of your content.
It depends on the content but I like Ghost for the combination of simplicity and flexibility.
The issue with ghost is that you need to pay 25$/month for custom integrations.
That’ll be about $300 for a year. I think in a year you’ll make much more than that!
