Hey everyone, I'm new to the whole marketing game. What are your suggestions on driving traffic and gaining new customers to a saas business??
I have a email list of over 1k users but want to make some strides to scale.
If you have actionable advice that would be amazing. Cheers everyone.
The best way is to find out the first 100 users manually. Ask for feedback. Build a solution that can provide tremendous values for them. Make them love your product.
Sometimes, there is no shortcut.
You know that like "there is no shortcut" has come up in different ways a lot this week. In the end the stuff the doesn't scale works wonders and I'm learning tons from chatting with our users on a daily basis. Cheers for the help!
Well obviously the thing you have to do is engage those 1k people, give them some sort of value (maybe content?) interesting relevant surveys, articles, etc--you don't even have to write them yourself. Curate to position yourself as the authority in your particular niche.
After that sell them something. But not before you create things for them. also make sure you run kick-ass analytics to see their progression through the app and where the ball gets dropped.
Great advice thank you! I am currently working on a email funnel and some content around the niche. Thanks!
Having 1k emails is a valuable resource.
As many people have said over and over on IH - knowing your customer is the most important thing when it comes to your developing a product and especially to how you market it.
Create personas that provide you a framework of who you're trying to reach and what their need for your product is. If you have 1k users - use online resources to learn about the most loyal customers you already have. Send them a personal email and ask to talk on the phone. Draft questions that aren't leading and really try to understand who they are, what their problem is, how they have tried to solve it and why they use (or don't use) your solution.
Define your Unique Selling Proposition.
Then spend time learning about what the customer journey is. Research inbound marketing and create a customer journey map that defines content that nurtures your customer from Attract stage(valuable blog post found through organic search), Convert (free trial to test product), Close (email campaign and messages to convert them to paying customer) and Delight (maintaining long term valuable customers through regular and valuable content and communication)
What channels are the best to get in front of them? What content or information supports your product/service that could channel them to your website? Then create that content. I had a friend that wrote a 5 part series on Medium that drove 10k visitors a month to his website. Content is king today.
Thank you Zach. I am going to review all of this advice and make a plan of attack. I already have some ideas from what you shared. I appreciate the time you took to write all of this out for me.
You said you have an email list of over 1k users. Let's start up by optimizing your email campaign. First is to use human email addresses. Don’t ever send an email from a department. Instead of “Sales@YourBusiness.com”, use “YourName@YourBusiness.com”. If you need more insights, refer to this website here, https://thecontractorscoach.com/
Haha I have a human email address all set! I'll check out the link, thank you!
