For me it's the start. I shutdown my machine and have to restart all my software in the morning and sometimes remembering where I left off is impossible 😂
I usually try to finish the day with a small “pending” win, already ready for tomorrow, waiting for me when I start the day.
Then, when I start the following day, I read it and do it - and I feel like I already accomplished something.
You should try it! Not only will you be able to recall where you left off - maybe you’ll find the start of the day less tedious and more energizing :-)
I also do this especially if it is not really obvious what I want to do next or took a break in the middle of a task. This really helped because before I was always lost in the morning :D
I do this when I'm either feeling overwhelmed or don't think I have the mental space to remember where I left off the evening before. Definitely one of my favorite strats haha
For me it is most definitely reading emails and reviewing PR's.
Waiting for things to build, mostly. Also, when I'm editing videos, exporting them in adobe media encoder it takes foreverrrrrr. My poor old computer just can't handle it. So. much. fan. noise.
When developing frontend stuff my swap gets filled after a few hours and my pc is really slow, because I still have an HDD and only 8GB RAM :D so I always need to close some programs and clear my swap, this is always annoying :D
I don't shutdown my machine, just put it to sleep. Maybe it's worth considering that?
